From 1990 to 1994 (model years 1991-1994), Mercedes-Benz sold a high performance version of the W124, the Mercedes-Benz 500 E (W124.036). The 500 E was created in close cooperation with Porsche; each 500 E was hand-built by Porsche, being transported back and forth between the Mercedes plant and Porsche's Rossle-Bau plant in Zuffenhausen, Germany during assembly â€" taking a full 18 days to complete each model. Design began in 1989 and into 1991.[2] Called '500 E' through model year 1993. 1993 Mercedes-Benz 500e,green exterior/tan leather, factory Recaro seats, very rare limited production car, hand built by Mercedes and Porche, has rust over rear wheel well, front bumper has a crack but repairable and so does the rear, huge v8 with huge power in this car, collector item. Need to sell it due to lack of storage. Call 413-478-9091or via e-mail at brubenz01@aol.com

Wow, at that price it's almost a parts car !!

I think I've seen this car at a Minuteman event a few times in the recent past...it needs a fair amount of TLC, but for the price; it's attractive for a driver.

Looks like the extra front storage console is from a 94' judging by its color.

Ludlow is not far from me...if anyone needs a 3rd party inspection that is far away; PM me.

Sent an email to the seller asking for some better pics and details, but never got the answer. Has anyone contacted that guy before?

I talked a friend's friend out of buying it...there's not much worth selling off it either. And not really worth dumping a ton of money or time into it (IMO). Def a good spare parts car or an owner with a shop that can handle a resto on the cheap (if resto-ing a worn out, high mileage car is your thing)...or a beater driver if you can keep it running on the cheap.

It has served it's life and all the miles well.

I dunno...a 500E as a track toy? A 500E today on a track would just be in everybodys way !

I would consider this one only as a spare parts car. And only if it had a good solid chassis body.

Prime candidate for getting a roll cage and becoming a track toy. And as usual, too far away. Whew! Maybe Hendy will scoop it up... at half the asking price of course.

Unfortunately, there is a fair amount of fender rust...I haven't seen the undercarriage but its prolly has alot of rust also....which is too bad.

This would be a decent one (if on the cheap) to round out your collection Dave. You can bring some life back to it I'm sure. I bet it can still beat down the Hondas too! Make the guy an offer...I'll drive it out to Boise for ya' (if it'll make it). Working out there in December. 2 days at our Collins Road office in Boise then out to Pocatello for 3 more days.

Ha !... we did pack years of cyber chat into those wee hours didn't we. I think that nite was the very last time my 500E was in the rain too. Epic !

Do they sell 'Barenjager' in Boise Dave...or will I have to bring my own ?

Good question! NO idea... I'd have to check around. Might be safer to bring a small supply just in case...

That car has been floating around the New England Craigs for a while. Few months back it was in Rhode Island with a bad engine.

Me pay nearly $5k for a parts car?? Don't think I ever paid that for a wife!

Cheap compared to an EX-wife....

Q "Why are divorces so expensive?"

A "Because they're worth it!"

Kind Regards,

Ron

Any idea if this is the same one? Supposedly runs and drives but has heavy rust over rear passenger wheel well. Also over 200k+ on the odometer.
