1993 Mercedes-Benz 500E -Green with tan interior. EXCELLENT CONDITION! Same owner since 1994. Always garage kept. No accidents and most importantly NO RUST. Preventative paint/body work completed last year to remove any rusting sheet metal. No ambiguous history. No abuse. You will NOT find acleaner, more meticulously maintained example of the only collaborative effort between Mercedes-Benz and Porsche AG. It should be appropriately called thePanamera 1.0. If you're looking at this car you obviously know what it is, butin case you don't, the model's history is as follows:

From 1990 to 1994 (modelyears 1991-1994), Mercedes-Benz sold a high performance version of the W124, the Mercedes-Benz 500 E(W124.036). The 500 E was created in close cooperation with Porsche; each 500 E was hand-built byPorsche, being transported back and forth between the Mercedes plant and Porsche's Rossle-Bau plant in Zuffenhausen, Germany during assembly — taking afull 18 days to complete each model. Design began in 1989 and into 1991.[2]Called '500 E' through model year 1993, for model year 1994 it was face-lifted along with the rest of the range and renamed to 'E 500'.

Recent inspection completedby our dealer certified tech here at our race shop in Daytona Beach, FL. http://www.bgbmotorsports.com. Additional 3rd party inspection being completed today by well respected and Florida renowned MB specialist the Nort Northam Collection in Orlando. No modifications other than required Florida window tint and the originally intended H&R wider track spacers for the front/rear wheels.

Priced fairly and firmly for a quick sale. This car needs a good home. Call John at (917)439-3589.

Looks pretty nice. As usual, it has the wrong Euro lights installed, but at least that's an easy fix. Ditto for removal of the "originally intended H&R wider track spacers", whatever that means.

Have record of this car being on eBay in January 2011. It was for sale at that time in Wayne, PA, with 139,700 miles on it.

My comments on the car at the time: "No real information given as to condition. MB star license plate on front instead of PA plate. Some wear on driver's side seat bolster. Driver's side door pocket peeling. Wood and interior generally in good condition. Cell phone antenna at top center of rear window. Exterior seems in good condition.Wheels seem to have Kleen Wheels dust shields on them. Decent car for the mileage."

This is Petrel Blue, right? This would have to be one of the more unusual colours for a 500? Certainly looks perfect in the colour.

The pictures also don't work. It would be best if you could upload them to this forum so that we aren't depending on a third party host. (let me know if you need help with that!)

The RENNlist forum won't let me access the thread, it must be restricted to PAYING members, or some other such stupidity. I really hate "locked down" forums like that. It's bad enough they force you to register to view anything (even text!), it's another thing when you STILL can't access some content AFTER you register. Not cool.

UPDATE: 10/6/2013

Merged two threads on this car together (one dating from 2011, the other from 2012).

Looks like this car is being advertised for sale again, this time in Pennsylvania, for $13,950 with 148,800 miles on the clock. I wonder who bought it and how it got up to Pennsylvania?

Of course, these cheesy used car dealers never provide any documentation or background on the history of the car, what's been done to it, current maintenance, etc.

Yeah... too many flippers in the market these days. I'm sitting it out while some of these guys lose their shirts. Then we can get back to used car purchases the way we used to do it around here. I've been watching several models go from dealer to dealer this summer. The worst offender by far has to be the BMW E46 M3... Oh well, I digress.

Cheers,

No Affiliation. Spotted car by accident.

VIN: WDBEA36E8PB909592

It is located at http://www.paulsevagmotors.com/

Car is not on the website yet. Talked to Paul Sevag today. He traded the car and has not listed it yet.

The info he provided is that it spent most of its life with the guy who bought it when it had 7K on the clock (possibly the 2nd owner).

The next owner after that bought it in 2014 until trading it.

I looked at it at night. Noticed two small spots where the clear coat is peeling. It has euro lights that do not look factory.

Paul has not done anything to the car and will sell in for $13K as is. Once he addresses any issues, of course, the price goes up.

I will be happy to look at the car if anyone is interested.

At least this guy/ flipper appears to have cleaned it up pretty well. It's been driven about 10K miles since first post in 2011 probably from dealer to dealer. Appears early comment/ bitches have been fixed. Sticker off of front lower valance, H&R spacers appear to be gone, pealing upholstery on driver's door is fixed, drivers seat bolster replaced or dyed. Looking at the pics on an I-Phone 6+, it presents well in and out. My not look as good on a computer screen.

According to the carfax it's been in Pennsylvania all of it's life except for the for sale add from Florida. No pics of the underside. I would be very leary of rust and corrosion.

Real shame about the aftermarket stereo head unit (may be difficult to fix)...

You're thinking people actually want the antique bits and will pay more for them?

And is that Euro light fix still easy (lenses) or has it gotten more difficult now that the assemblies are NLA?

Definitely nail that down. I replaced my lower harness in December '16, and it took a while for one to arrive from Germany. They may be getting scarce, but maybe not. Others here will know.

The harnesses are not a deal-breaker IMO... both are still avaialble, the upper is ~$600 ~$400, lower is ~$250, both can be installed DIY in your driveway (although the lower harness may take a couple hours). Would be nice if the ETA has already been replaced since that's a relatively spendy item (seller probably has no clue).

Underbody photos would be my primary concern but you may need a full PPI by a local shop to check for any serious rust / rot; the photos may just show a bunch of surface rust which is common on nor'east cars.

Otherwise, my only gripes (from the photos & info posted) are the aftermarket radio, and the wrong headlights... neither of which are that big of a deal at this price point. If you search the forum there are older threads discussing various items to watch out for, but in general just plan on $5k in miscellaneous repairs / maintenance if paying a shop (half that if you are a DIY wrench). The M119 engines are very hard to kill, other than maybe needing upper chain rails it's unlikely there's anything to worry about with the motor.

BTW, welcome to the forum!
