    Reputable SoCal Paint Shop

    Hello All,

Can anyone recommend a reputable paint shop in Southern California? I am looking to respray my Spruce Green 500E. It has the normal cloudy/peeling clear coat on the top facing surfaces (hood, roof, trunk). I've attached a pic below.

Considering doing a comprehensive respray of the whole car, taking the opportunity to replace old rubber and plastic pieces, or just having the hood, trunk and roof resprayed and blended into the sides which are still in ok shape. The car sits outside under a cover so a full respray is less desireable just because I don't have a garage to put it in after it's done.

I'd prefer a shop that has experience with older Mercedes products and uses paint that matches or exceeds OEM quality.

    Thanks for your recommendations.

I have used Jorge at New Line Collision in Costa Mesa. His painter is excellent. (949) 515-3909 Also whomever painted Eric's 500E did an amazing job. If he doesn't' see this thread, shoot him a PM and ask who he used.

I'd like to hear some opinions regarding this as well; the clearcoat on the upper surfaces(hood roof trunk) has started delaminating on my car too. The lowers are definitely not in a top shape (some dings and scratches) either but no delamination yet.

A local body shop that uses glasurit 55 line quoted me a reasonable price for the respraying of the upper surfaces but the shop owner personally recommended that I do a full proper respray so that I don't have to touch the paint for another 20 years. But, of course, a very pricey option that I cannot afford at the moment.

Should I just leave it as is until I save up to do the job properly?
Or should I still opt for the partial respray for the time being?
I'm also thinking about wrapping the car as well to make it silver as brilliant silver on these cars are by far my favorite. This, I hope, would also stop further delamination.

The car has 220k miles so I probably won't get any money back if I decide to do a respray but that said, I am planning on keeping this car as long as I can.

Wait until you save for a full re-spray would be my vote.
Back in the day, there were more shops that would do full paint jobs.
Shops make a lot more money painting bumpers and fenders.
So it hard to find a shop that will do a full re-spray at a reasonable price and with a reasonable turn around.
Having said that, I would still prefer a full res-spray verses a partial paint job.
The exception being, if you just want to repaint the bumpers and lower cladding.
