    Hopefully really stupid question

My E500's hood star broke off. I got a new one, removed the old one in about five seconds, as is typical. Went to put in the new one, and I can't get the revolving clip mechanism to turn at all. I've done all but clamp it in a vise to get it to move, but it won't move more than an 1/8". I feel kind of silly because it's well, a hood star, and I've replaced at least three on my various cars in the past without this issue. It's a brand new out of the box OEM hood star from MBOEMParts in Naperville.

Am I missing something? Or did the part change somehow?

Dumb question - are you turning the lower section in the proper direction? I'm not sure if it will turn both ways...

I'm certain I'm turning the right way. I've tried both ways just to get some movement but yes.

Finally just removed the lower revolving piece, took some prying and pulling, and slightly spread the two sides of it. Putting it back together was a challenge, but now it seems like it will turn. Can't believe I got up at 5 to mess with this thing again. I never go far without a little big star.

All I seem to have left is the spring. Steelership wants 40 clams.
