Re: WTB: AMG OZ SPLITS 3-piece

LOL! Yeah, take a number, get in line. I'd like a set too, but they're bloody expensive, and often have cracks near the lug bolt area which makes them junk. Be VERY careful when buying these, especially chrome ones where the chrome plating could hide the cracks. They sure do look sweet on the .036 though.

Good luck with that, the offsets and diamater are going to be problematic

It's not easy, but since they're 3piece I can change barrels and make em fit

Re: WTB: AMG OZ SPLITS 3-piece

True - if you get the proper size & offset, these can be made to fit on a standard 124. The MB docs indicate there was a 17x8.0 ET30 version that will work, if you can find them. Click here for details, click here for the 17x8.5 version.

Re: WTB: AMG OZ SPLITS 3-piece

    Hello:

    I have been running 10 x 17 ET 17 and 8.5 x 17 ET 18 with 275/40's and 245/45's on my 036 with no rubbing issues.

    I MAY have a single 10 x 17 ET 17 for sale in a week or two.

    Kind Regards,

    Ron

The 7" barrels and 1" bowl rings are hard to find and I have never seen a full 17x8 AMG three piece wheel for sale.

    These might be usable

Search on ebay.de for AMG 3-teilig that should get you some good hits. Also just search AMG 17. Quite a lot to sort through but there are lips, barrels, bolts, sealant and full sets available.

Re: WTB: AMG OZ SPLITS 3-piece

They are extremely rare for sure. Wanting to have them already 9 years ago on my 190E 2.6, but now 17" is way to small for the 500E.
Good-luck with finding them, i would let them x-ray to search for any hidden cracks under chrome plating.

Those are the ones I want for my 500E - perfect size & offset. No workee on plebeian 124's though, only the .036 chassis.

I've got a set of std w124 3 piecers on my Hammer Wagon...Had to buy two sets of wheels to make the one w/o cracks.. paid a damn pretty penny for them too.. By the time I finished re-finshing/painting/polishing/replacing hardware along w/ a Conservative $/hr on labour I have north of 6K invested in those wheels.

    They Do look sharp though..

Looking good doesn't come cheap or inexpensively, either.

AMG OZ was right-on naming these rims SPLITS.

Hopefully they don't while you are running your car at speed.

Yes, wrong size tires and extreme negative camber. Should be burning through tires every 6-10,000 miles, assuming of course the bead does not pop first.

this whole "stance" thing boggles my mind.."hey, my car looks really low, really fast, but if I push it I'll roll the bead right off my wheel..."

    What's the point, I'm curious??

The wheels are awesome, but dangerously undersized tires are not. Sorry dude.

Re: WTB: AMG OZ SPLITS 3-piece

If you would run with such a set in Germany into a police checkpoint or would have been pulled over by the cops, they would immediately impound the vehicle for sure and you would get a veeeery big fine. This
is really dangerous, you drive quick curves with that set, the tires would probably jump from the rims.
We had that situation as around 1990-2000, 9.5x16inch Rims came into fashion at every tuner car and people took 215-35-16 or 215-40-16 tires with them - then the TüV Süd made a test of such a combination and at a well known "evasive maneuver", the tires jumped from the rims!

Yes, as the Great Lamas would say, "Eez better to Look good than to Feel good, and the Splits Look Mah-velous!...I will demonstrate as I accelerate around theez corner for the Chicks. Oops! the beads have rolled and the Splits have splat!

...now I do not Feel good & the Splits no longer Look good...carumba."

Re: WTB: AMG OZ SPLITS 3-piece

I fully agree about the stance on this 300E, but I guess it is the style nowadays on "street sleepers" (..if that's what it's called?).

For the tire versus rim width I guess I'm on the same boat with my SuperMerc at the moment. The set-up followed the car and the tires are still on the rims, but for how long I don't know...
