    spray paint

    Guys,

Has anyone used appliance epoxy by krylon? Epoxy has poor uv resistance,
Bit should be good for rest.

Trying to get some chemical resistance that enamel doesn't have.

Many moons ago I used Krylon epoxy paint on a Datsun 510 valve cover and air cleaner housing. It held up very well to the heat of the engine compartment.

there is always brackets, pulley , suspension part etc. Enamel looks very good- but not chemical resistant.

    Re: spray paint

forget those Mcparts brands of paint. Go to a body shop supply house, UPol makes an Excellent spray paint, as does WURTH. The WURTH product has a bit of a flexing agent.

Acetone and a Proper self etching primer will help your brakcets hang in there a Lot longer.

Powder coat is Great, we use it Quite often but the 2 week turn around and build up in less then ideal places sometimes make it a problematic choice

    Re: spray paint

All the coated parts I've seen lately w failure. The corrosion runs under the coating and is extensive. I've been busy balsting the parts, acid edtching primer. I will get some upol paint and give it a try. I have been using Wurth primer and trim paint for 20 years now. It amazes me when a can works and it's 10 years old!

If an off the shelf color will do try like www.Amazon.com or www.autogeek.com.

Definitely agree here with Jon on WURTH being the good stuff; seek out a local auto body supply house and get a Stage 1 rattle can in your color....it'll be 'wurth' your while. wink.

It's unfortunate. I took a break from here G...another forum member REALLY got under my (must be thinning) skin who wanted to buy a set of polished EvoIIs I had for sale. I'm over it now though...it happens.

LMK when you get into town bud. I'm about an hour away from Stamford.

    Re: spray paint

I was looking at paints the aircraft ppl use. There is TEMPO which has a great epoxy primer(takes a day to cure fully) which is zinc loaded. They have a flat black for propellers and a gloss black for engines. It's $6/can online.

    Re: spray paint

I'm confused by this thread, epoxy should be used only on bare metal or as a sealer. Regular primer, paint and clear needs to go over it. What's everyone trying to use it for, rather then the first coat of a paint job?

    Re: spray paint

it's not intended to be for exterior painted parts of the car. It's aimed @ brackets and odities that are ussually painted semi-gloss black. Epoxy is quite durable and chemical resistant- but it is poor in uv resistance.

I would think POR-15 would make a good paint for that stuff. It sets up like concrete once dry and has that semi gloss look. It's also not UV resistant.

Got the tempo black. It is a urethane modified enamel. Good note, chromate primer is available but $$.

Not sure on por15 chemical resistance. To me, it is kind of soft. Love and use it.
