    1993 Mercedes Benz 400E - $4000 (Dacula, GA)

Mercedes 400E - Solid car. It has been my daily driver and has been very reliable. Has a small V8, so it has some nice power. No known issues. Recently replaced a fuel line, power steering pump and serpentine belt. Engine is very strong and transmission shifts smoothly. A/C blows very cold and the heat will run you out of the car. $4,000 obo

There is another one up in Cartersville that has been sitting for a while that sounds like it's been well maintained for less than half the price you may be interested in. It's on Craigslist.

I saw that one. The ad says it won't idle. It looks like it's been sitting in that pole barn for 10 years. The lady is bringing the green one to me to see it tonight. She's very motivated apparently. We'll see.

The green one is a VERY rare color. Does it have ASR or heated seats?

This green car looks like one I checked on for a forum member a couple years back. Mileage was about the same and the owner was asking for $6000. The car did not sell at that time. I don't recall if it had ASR, don't believe it had heated seats. If it's one in the same I believe this is a good price. Shouldn't this car have black impact strips?
    Hope it meets your expectations.

She was late and we decided to meet tomorrow. She said the interior needs work, says the driver seat has some visible wear. She said it was a daily driver up until a few months ago. We're trying to meet around lunch tomorrow. I'll check on ASR and the heated seats.

I figured the color was rare, my wife likes it so that's 1/2 the battle. I'll keep y'all posted.

Now she is saying she will bring it over this evening...I'm starting to understand why she still has it for sale.

if the seller is hard to deal with, it probably means she isn't getting a lot of offers. So you might be able to get a good deal. Good luck! The car looks great.

She's very good with communication, just seems to be really busy if not a bit scattered. But she seems nice enough.

Again, didn't happen. She lives and works 5 minutes from my office so we have an appointment for her to bring the car to my office on Tuesday at 11...so the story continues.

Well, I finally saw the car. It's ragged...electric tape on the left air inlet tube...almost tight enough to close the tube. Wiring harness looked homemade. Matching Michelins were shot and dry rotted. Interior was trashed, AC dead, ran way too warm, the fans never came on. 3 fluid leaks that I didn't ID closely but one was coming from the tail shaft of the trans. The paint wasn't bad except on the roof where it was faded and cracking.

She wanted me to make an offer...I didn't, I was scared she would say yes!

Awwww, that's a bummer! Sounds like the value, in current condition, is likely south of $2k somewhere. Some of those issues are easily remedied (harness, tubes, tires) and some could be a PITA (particularly the leaks, depending on the source).

However, given the rarity of the color combo and options, and assuming it's rust-free... it would sure be nice if someone would get it cheap and restore it. There are plenty of other strippers in common colors (and/or rustbuckets) to part out.

I ned something to drive daily, so I'd be out on this one. But I bet it could be bought for $1500. She seemed pretty desperate.

Jono probably has a spare 5.0 laying around to drop in, along with a 500E interior... I'm glad it's on the wrong side of the country.

It's a perfect car for jono to buy...for me, not so much. But at least I got to look at another potential deal...part of the fun!

I like the color because you can't get cars in colors anymore. everything is white, black or silver. So a car like this has personality.

EXACTLY. And, Crystal Green is really not a bad color - I kinda like it. Check out some of the early 124's in Light Ivory... I owned a 1986 300E in that color (nice shape, great price) but OMG it was hideous. Like a baby had pooped all over the car. There were a couple of other MB colors which were pretty awful, mostly in the 80's. Colors started going away in the early 90's, and check out the paint options by the late 90's... you had a choice of about 6 total paint colors, and interior colors eventually dropped from the usual 8 down to 3!!

yeah i agree .I totally enjoy DIFFERENT type of colors ,which makes car stand out.Especially weird interior colors.
I also actually like the TAXI Beige color..just because its NOT "normally preferred"

so i was not meaning to DIS the color..it was just not an especially NICE color...in the pics.
