Hey every one.

Been a lurker for some time. Finally, last Thursday it happened. Purchased my very first bucketlist car!! It came from an extremely good friend of mine, so I know it's been well cared for. He's a stickler for any of his cars.

I couldn't be more happier with the car. It has far exceeded my expectations.

I'm sure you guys are more interested in the pictures than you are of me.

I cant take all the credit. The plates were put on by my friend, the previous owner. I must return them after my new plates arrive!

Yep. I love her. Not bad for turning 21 six months ago! :bananadeath:

Thanks!

Welcome aboard and congrats on your new ride!

Not crazy about the rear spoiler but the car looks nice overall, especially with the facelift.

Cool! What year is that, btw? The front end is '94 but there's no alarm LED in the console, which would indicate an early '92 model. But there's no fader for the stereo, which would be a '94 thing. Whoooo, I'm confused....

It is amazing how good some of these cars look at 200k. I came to the 500E after a number of E34 M5's and Audi UrS cars over the years and it's really hard to find nice examples of these cars today with that kind of mileage. I don't know if it's the build quality or the demographics of the owners but it's a pretty stark contrast IMHO. Not to say there aren't some nice high mileage E34 M5 and UrS cars out there, but they are few and far between. Yet high mileage 500E's which appear as if they have 50k seem to be the norm based on what I have seen. Just an observation. Anyway, welcome from another newcomer who just bought a 200k car off his bucket list.

Well, I think it's partly a testament to the build and materials of these cars, and partly to the fact that they were often 2nd and third (weekend) cars for many of the original and second owners....

Welcome aboard !

Cheers,
Gerry

I was 23 when I got mine - I always thought I was one of the youngest on here as I assumed that people at around that sort of age haven't yet developed such fine taste.

I sold her a year ago because the mrs was complaining we needed something 'younger looking'....one of the biggest mistakes I ever made. I just cannot get excited about any other car now.

Welcome and enjoy your new car - she looks like a good one.

Wait...am I hearing this correctly "younger looking" to car that is timeless, not to mention has the pumped-up looks that modern cars are starting to carry. A Honda S2000 over a 500E is blasphemy...tisk, tisk.

Ahh now I know where I saw that sticker on the back of your car! I messaged you on mbjunkies.

Anyhow, here's the link for the drag day:

If ASR is the only thing keeping you from racing, there is another way to disable it temporarily what takes 2 seconds and is just as long to reverse. All you need to do is unplug one of the ABS sensors at the front of the car. I used this method my first time at the track to help me heat up the tires. The downside is that it disables ABS as well, so make sure you plug it back in before leaving the track!

Really nice car. Can you ask how the photographer made those coffee-pics so "uber" plastic-like looking?
Also, it seems to be a "trend" to add german license-plates to german cars in the USA ^^

I was the photographer! haha. What do you mean by coffee-pics?

And as far as the pate goes. Yes. Its a trend. Some people like it. Some think its silly. The same goes for Japanese cars. I also have a japanese car that I run a Plate from Japan on in front.

Strange, I know. :)
