Not sure how you guys will recieve my car, though I always felt that the world was lacking a 2 door version E500E; so I had one created. My car doesn't have a V8 engine as I didn't want the extra wieght up front, though I will be having a twin turbo conversion installed on the 3.2 straight six 24v, so power will be on par with the M119. I have owned 500e's in the past & plan on finding another keeper soon. I just needed to get this out of my system! The entire process is documented on the benzworld site, should you have interest - just search widebody coupe in the W124 forum...

Hey, I just noticed your mirrors. Is that a RHD driver-side mirror on your passenger door? Were you able to get the mirror to angle in enough to make it usable?

Your car is stunning. What is the color? Is it a MB color? I have always liked the coupes, almost bought a 124 coupe before I found my 500E.

Actually no, not yet.... This will be a project in the spring when the coupe surfaces from it's heated lair, along with the twin turbo conversion and a couple of interior upgrades.

The color is a modified MB color called Azurite blue, though I always disliked the slight purple haze that you would see in certain light conditions. I had the pink pearl & pearl quantities of paint taken out & a little more black & metallic blue added in. Mike at Motorwerks who did all of the bodywork & paint (save for the metal) is a true artist & I owe him a great deal of respect for the care he put into this project.

Here's a picture of the interior - as you will notice, I replaced the coupe's seats with e500 items (not a simple swap...!!)

Thanks for the interest & positive comments.

Thank you. I purchased the steering wheel while in Germany a few years ago - they are made by a retired MB engineer using a core OEM wheel. Beautifully made.

All work was completely custom & the rear arches were fabricated using MB steel from an E320 door skin.

It's been a busy few months since I purchased this amazing 500e from Drew, though I finally had the time to have a good detailing done. I also managed to get the AMG's mounted with the right spacer/bolt combination.

I still find it hard to believe that this car has 180k on it - everyone who looks at it (underneath / interior / engine bay / body) gives me a shocked look when I tell them.

Looking forward to arranging a photo shoot with both the 040 and wide body coupe soon.

Straight six - 3.2 24v, though I have a full Turbo Technics twin turbo kit (Hughes of Beaconsfield) that will be installed eventually.

Love the wheels on your 993tt. I would stick with what you have now over the singer style, what you have now seems more period correct in my eyes and fits the era better. The blue coupe looks awesome, looks like Satish built it for you. I have heard through the grapevine that was quite a difficult build to execute. Enjoy all of these accomplishments in good health!

Thanks Chris.

The Speedlines aren't going ANYWHERE! I have a few sets of wheels for the 993 & these are definitely my favorites.

Yes - Satish (more his crew at Motorwerks) built the widebody for me and it was a very, very laborious effort which took over 2 years to complete.

I guess its time for a yearly update... Hope everyone is well.

There's been a few changes in the garage since my last post here & the 500e has finally been moved from it's long-term conditioned hibernation over to my Mechanic for reanimation. Life got busy & while I absolutely love owning the 500e, it wasn't easy for me to find a good use for it with the other cars but it was just too nice to sell, so I decided to moth ball it properly and wait until I got the itch again. I've put less than 500 miles on it since purchasing from Drew (I know.... Flame away).

I recently sold the M635csi, so felt it was a good time to get the 500e ready for service in the spring - it will remain at my Mechanics shop while he goes through everything necessary (which so far doesn't look like much at all) to bring it up to snuff. The condition of this car still amazes me!

One other addition to the garage this summer was a 2011 987 Spyder, which is a truly incredible car & probably the best bang for buck Porsche you can currently buy. I had never particularly liked the Boxster, or owned a convertible but a good friend of mine had owned a spyder & always gushed at how much it impressed him (he's a very capable driver). This one popped up on line one Saturday morning & it spoke to me.... Yep, PDK... Highly optioned & sporting Fabspeed headers and some other go fast parts - within a week it was in my garage & I'm loving it.

I'll post more updates on the 500e when I have them.

Gratuitous spyder pics:

Hey Jlaa! I saw your owner page yesterday - looks like you've shifted your OCD from the 993 to the 500e! Great job so far.

I was also guilty of not driving the M6 enough & to be honest I didn't enjoy driving it as much as looking at it.

I don't think I'll be doing any leather mods to the 500e - I love the interior just the way it is.

Painted console and bucket seats, nice spec!

Yep - the first owner ticked a lot of boxes when he ordered it. The painted console & dash trim was actually standard on the spyder, but the gauges, shifter trim, chrono dial, mirror attachments and headlamp washers were all spec'd white.

Was missing my E500 recently (one with an especially throaty exhaust parks in my work building, so it's a constant reminder of what I sold.) So was looking at some car porn and came back across your widebody conversion thread on Benzworld. No words. Consider me in line if you ever decide to sell it.

Funny enough, was also looking at the pics of your arena red 993tt a few weeks ago because I'm starting to plan the refresh/rehab on mine. Was thinking of going down the TurboR conversion route but the cost is obscene now, unfortunately not worth it (to me at least). For the same price can probably do what I want plus have money left over to buy a GT3...
