1992 Porsche Carrera had 250 HP. NSX was quicker than any other car in this price range. And much more reliable as Porsche ;)
What is so funny?

"Quicker than any other car in this price range?" Not by a long shot. In 1992 you could expect the sticker on a NSX to be $60-70 but in reality, if you wanted one, you would be paying way over sticker, try 90-100k.

Yes the NSX was/is reliable, its a Honda. I said it wasn't fast. Hell, most cars made during that time were not fast but if you take into account the cars that WERE faster and/or had roughly the the same performance numbers as a NSX (Corvette, GM Typhoon, Ford Mustang Cobra, Jag, Nissan 300zx, Pontiac Firebird etc.) they were half, sometimes less than half the cost of the NSX.

The video is no suprise. The 348 was a dissapointment in all areas. The performance times were exaggerated, the build quality was poor and the handling was poor. So in that respect the NSX was the better car, not faster really (about the same) but better all around.

Amen =)
In pracitce you would be much faster than any porsche or maranello stuff. Reliability and easyness in use. NSX was also inside much nicer than ANY porsche.
And at a price tag around 150K DMark not cheap, but far cheaper than ferrari.

We should all be thankful that the NSX caused Porsche and Ferrari to significantly up their game. Meanwhile, Honda let the NSX more or less languish with only incremental upgrades and improvement. I'm hearing rumors of a new NSX on the drawing boards, but the photos I have seen don't look as cool as the original models did, in their heyday (early to mid 1990s).

The proper Porsche in this comparison / price range would be the 1992 964 3.4 turbo which would have produced a very different outcome. Just 2 years later the 3.8 turbo was available. Porsches are also difficult to launch well. NSX was a great leap forward in technology, it's true. (i just watched the linked video on vetec design. interesting.) I don't remember when Porsche introduced their Vario-cam although i believe it was around this time.
