"For the Journey"

From the January, 2013 issue of Mercedes Enthusiast magazine.

A profile of a nicely preserved, British 500SEC with some provenance.

I have never driven one of these, but have always wanted to compare to my 500E. I only put about 8k/year to and from work on the 500E. All highway. (100mi. per/round trip) Wonder what the differences would be? What would you prefer on an open highway with a 65mph. speed limit? Anyone?

I have always loved the body style of these coupes. Wish Mercedes would have made a w124 coupe with a v8, not the 300ce/e320. If you have a critical eye for flow and design you will notice that the shape of the dor window and rear passenger window creates the perfect pillarless coupe profile. However, that same windo profile would look better on a w124 chassis, the 500e chassis that is, not the shorter 300e/e320 coupe chassis.
