View Full Version : REMOVAL OF INTERIOR DOOR PANEL (Drivers Side)

12-13-2010, 06:54 PM

I need a little tutoring on removing my drivers side interior door panel to access the wiring harness for the window lifts as well as the seat wiring.

I don't want to wreck the door panel. A while back I changed the drivers seat switch but it did not help the problem.

I believe that the culprit is the wiring harness going thru the door hinge. If possible I would like some diagrams on the wiring for the door windows and seat. Any infor you have would be appreciated

Anyway I will check back Wed or Thurs since I am still on the library computer for now.

Terry, to remove the door panel you should start with;

Removing the black plastic trim around the door striker

Remove the black plastic trim around the door handle/pwr seat control

Remove the power seat control unit/switch

Remove the door handle (plastic housing slides forward & pops outward)

Remove the side mirror interior trim piece (be gentle here, otherwise the plastic clips will break off)

Remove one bolt holding the arm rest to the door

Remove puddle light

Tricky part at this point is the door panel, it does not pop off like other cars, you need to apply pressure to the door panel and push it upwards. Do not pull it outwards, always keep firm pressure to the door panel. If its been removed in the past, it should come off fairly easy, it it hasn't, having a 2nd set of hands will greatly help.
