Just an FYI - you can also use the early W140 ASR ETA, p/n 000-141-73-25. The cable is longer but otherwise it's a bolt-in. This may open up your options for finding a used one with a late datecode.

Never mind, sending the old one to Beckmann Technologies for testing and remanufacturing.

Re: ETA - GAS ACTUATOR (000-141-79-25) continuing problems

Here's a follow-up on the replacement of the throttle body actuator: I received a rebuilt one (000-141-79-25) from Beckmann the beginning of June and had my local shop install it. Car ran fine for about a month. After the month was up, the idle would race upon cold start to over 3k rpm, then slow down to normal, then race again. It would start and run fine, once the car was warmed up.

Shop had the following diagnosis and code:
We do not have the ASR light on.
    ONLY code we're getting- S29/3
We just tested that idle switch and the results were within spec, as well.
    Closed throttle >20Kohms
    Open Throttle 1K ohms.

Beckmann replaced the part again this week. Shop installed and now have the following:
    EFP-
    054 Actuator EFP M16/1 055 Resetting not performed M16/3
    ASR-
030 CAN: No reception from EFP N4/1

Anyone have advice on what this may be? Thanks!

I’ll ask my shop. Is that a step that is supposed to happen after install?

Re: WTB: ETA - GAS ACTUATOR (000-141-79-25)

The odd thing is, S29/3 is a switch located inside the car... I assume the shop replaced this, not Beckmann?

M16/1 is the ETA itself. There really isn't a "reset" procedure other than leaving the ignition on for 90 seconds after clearing the codes. According to the FSM, if the code recurs, the itself is defective. It wouldn't hurt to swap out the E-GAS module with a known good spare, for grins...

S29/3 switch was checked and was within specs.

Shop did swap out the E-GAS unit with one that works. Car ran fine with other unit. Just wanted to check with y'all if it could be something else in combination with the alleged defective unit. We've contacted Beckmann again tonight, and awaiting word.

Update: both ETA units received from Beckmann were confirmed as defective. Not really looking to get a third one from them, so I’ve requested a refund.

Anyone have one for sale for a ‘92? Part number 000-141-79-25.

I would just get a new one form the S class and not have to deal w/ it anymore

Both the W124 and W140 early ETA's are $2600-$2700 list price, $1900-$2000 from discount dealers. I think he's looking for a slightly more affordable option, but yeah, a new one would be nice.

I have a ton of patience and like to save money. With snow flying for next few months, it doesn’t really matter if my car sits in a warm shop waiting for the right part at the right price.

Re: WTB: ETA - GAS ACTUATOR (000-141-79-25)

So a quick update: Beckmann Technologies acknowledged that the second replacement ETA was defective and shipped out another one to MotorWerks, who installed it and runs like new again. The real pain in the rear was that I ate the cost for the inspection/assessment and the installation twice. Plus I had to pay for shipping the part twice.

I guess that's the cost of not being able to do the work myself. Lesson learned.

Thanks for closing the loop on this, Max. Bummer about the additional costs, but glad you have the car up & running normally again!
