    OWNER - Twilling (Germany)

    Hi All,

I just bought myself a 1992 500E. One Owner till 2004. After that 13 years in car-collection till now. It´s in stock condition with near all available options... and I love it.

    Cheers,
    Twilling

Thanks guys. It even has the Trip Counter installed. It has just 101k miles on it. What do you think, do I have to worry about the chain slides? I heard they can be a weak spot.

    Twilling,

Welcome to the board. Your car looks great but we need more pics and info when you can get to it. With 101K miles on the clock it's barely broke in.

Hope to see more from you.

    Take Care

Whoa, the trip computer is a pretty rare item. Nice score!

The chain guides are a weak point. At the next oil change, drop the lower oil pan to inspect for any signs of plastic rail debris, and if you find any at all, pull the valve covers to inspect up top. I'd pull the valve covers anyway just to be on the safe side, and while they are off at a minimum replace the "fingered" clips between the sprockets (these are the first to break and fall into the oil sump). While the oil pan is off, upgrade to the later, larger sump pickup and also change the O-ring for the sending unit. Easy, basic-maintenance stuff. If you search the forum you'll find previous discussions on these topics including photos.

Awesome looking car. Amazing what the euro headlights do for the pre-facelift cars!
