It's running really rich, like 10.0-10.3 afr lol. It'll smooth out after it's tuned.

    Jord,

Thats awesome! What kind of HP/ftlbs do you expect? On your 2nd video the strait up exhaust when you were revving the engine, what’s it for - where will it end up?

How long before a test drive ?

Maybe to many any questions to early.

Can’t wait to hear and see it perform.

    Best of Luck
    Terry

    Re: Turbo 400E

Exhaust is pointed up because it's not run out of the car yet. The down pipe will go through the inner fender and get dumped out of the bumper. I'm looking for around 100 more hp than stock. I might go crazy and turn it waaaay past that in the future. After the the turbo stuff is done I have to pull the trans and fix the horrible trans leak from the front. After that it'll be drivable.

Neat - is that the wastegate? How are you planning to handle the additional fueling demands? And are you sucking through or pressurizing the air mass meter?

    Jord,

That’s an awful long driveway. Do you have a large plot of land there in Starke? I keep looking around every time I’m in Florida. I have two areas that I like Winter Park and Sarasota. I’m sure there is more.

California is getting to crazy. I keep thinking Florida would be a nice move.

That's only 1/3 the length of the driveway. It's on my parents property. They own 40 acers in Starke. It's where I keep all my cars lol.

Sarasota will give you more to do, culturally (theaters, concerts, restaurants, museums and such). Plus it brings into play two additional airports (TPA and RSW), plus more relocation diversity (Tampa Bay Area) which keeps things interesting.

Yeah Starke is in the middle of nowhere. Crappy little theater, too many fast food places, and a lot of cops. I drive an hour just to see friends, go see a movie, or go to work.

Terry, just remember that FL has drastically higher humidity compared to CA. Spend some time visiting in various seasons before you move.

I’m well aware of the humidity. I grew up in New Orleans. That is the one issue holding me back plus my age. I’m in Florida a couple of time a year lately. Jumping on cruise ships.

BUT California is becoming INSANE with the Dems running the State and not much chance that will change anytime soon. Just this morning some nut job state senator just proposed giving any ALIEN free health care. Next they will be giving PETS free healthcare. Geez where does it end? They just keep raising the TAXES. I could do well in a lot of states other than California EXCEPT that you just can’t beat SoCal’s weather I’m kinda stuck here.
. but Florida still has a lot of appeal even with the humidity and bugs.

Exhaust. The hole needs to be bigger and needs trim rings installed to reduce the chance of a melted bumper. It's also getting heat wrapped.

Since I won't be running an intercooler for a while I'm doing everything possible to get cold air to the engine. Even if that means making my own filter in the head light bucket. (That tubing will be wrapped in insulation to prevent heat soak of the tube). I just don't know how I wanna run the tubing.

I wouldn't worry too much about insulating the intake tube. The airflow will not have time to absorb much, if any, heat from the tube itself. Too much air passing through too quickly. If you can monitor IAT's that will help identify if any cooling methods are helping.

So how does it drive? What's the power like? Current boost level? Etc...

Haven't driven it yet, just buttoning up a few things and getting the last few misc pieces. It has a 4lbs waste gate spring, and it still needs to be tuned. I can monitor everything with megasquirt and tuner studios. If IAT's are too high I might invest in a meth kit. I dont feel like hacking the car up to fit an intercooler just yet.

I DROVE IT! Oh my go..... it's not even close to being tuned but I wanted to drive it anyways. The sound! It's to die for. I stayed in the throttle a little too long while it was breaking up, it cleared up and immediately hit 3lbs of boost and smacked my head into the head rest. Aaaand then the new front pump I put in started pouring out transmission fluid AGAIN.

I put a deep gear in my 400e. 3.69:1 literally shredded tires everywhere. Transmission didn't last a handful of days.

Anytime you get to have fun with one of these cars, the dumb transmission breaks lol

It started to leak before I did the turbo kit. It started leaking after I swapped to a 60-2 tooth flex plate and driving it to work. When I remove it (AGAIN!) I'll remove the flex plate and measure it. Then compare it to the old flex plate. Idk how they'd be different but I have to cover all my bases.

    Re: Turbo 400E

So apparently my 722.3 refuses to have turbo fun. So I'm going to try to source a 722.6 from a local yard and get an OfGear controller.

Before I went turbo it had a weird issue. It wouldnt know what gear to go in. Rev really high to shift, and then free wheel in that gear at lower speeds and not down shift. I have checked the bowden cable and shift modulator. Now it just sits in 2nd and doesnt shift. Don't feel like rebuilding it due to a 722.6 was my end goal anyways.

I just want to know if it ever stops raining in Starke, Florida. But seriously, once again I'm amazed at the things some people are able to do as routine. Like EVERYTHING you have just done, and are about to do. Carry on, and we damn well better see a massive burnout video and/or quarter mile run when this is buttoned up!

Dragstrip runs required once it's able to handle full throttle & redline shifts!

It's just your friendly 3:00pm rain showers everyday, all day, for eternity.

Trust me when I say this, I will over post about this car when it's done .

I'm currently trying to source a 722.6 and an Ofgear controller to finally get this project on the road.

I shall now leave you with this salty meme I made to bug a few of my friends .
