Not everyone has a lathe in their shop, to whip out custom billet parts on demand. Tell him if he'll buy you the tools, you'll make fancier stuff.

Also see what kind of work he'd crank out in 127% humidity and 100°F. Seems he's probably used to, uh, somewhat cooler environments:

Lithuanian. If using a "real" PC, right-click in Chrome and select "Translate" to get a readable Engrish translation. Not sure what options are if using a mobular device.

    Re: Turbo 400E

I dont mind the way I did my turbo kit. I can always go back and remake the lower part of the kit with oval pipe to gain some ground clearance when I do decide to lower it. First things first though, I need to build a helmholtz on the down pipe to eliminate the drone at 80mph. You can barely hear the exhaust at 65 with the windows up and Radio/AC off, but 80mph (2600-ish rpms) is the absolute worst. Also, enjoy this mid buff/detail picture lol.

Did some tinkering today. Replaced my clogged condenser so I could have AC again. Kinda lets you see how the Turbo kit sits in there lol. Also finally added a filter.

BTW: if you can't get an intercooler in there right away, perhaps consider a cheap water-injection just for safety (do not tune expecting it, unless you can have a different map when the water is either out, or the system doesn't work). Water-injection has helped my turbo'd RX7 live a long life.

Yeah I'm going to try to be there Saturday. Also I've come to the conclusion that I'll need to cut the front of the car to run a convention intercooler.

Go with a water to air cooler and heat exchangers, way more efficient and no cutting of impact structure needed

Awesome, guess I'll bring the 500E.

BTW: I run water-injection even with an intercooler on the RX7, and it REALLY HELPS, especially if you go with a programmable unit that monitors RPM, load, as well as system malfunction and a water-level indicator:

Yeah I toyed around with the idea of water/Meth injection, but I want a minimal maintenance reliable turbo kind of car lol.

He can run the water injection fully adjustable through megasquirt, just need the pump and nozzles. It can also pull timing and boost if the water level is low

I bought a W/A intercooler from a 6.7l Ford diesel but I wasn't aware it was this big. W/A kits are also prone to heat soak while sitting in traffic. A2A dissipates heat rather quick while the W2A takes longer.

I'll run the 6.7l intercooler on my Mercedes diesel dodge and just run a conventional intercooler on the 400E. Have it look like this for a while.

It looks so clean with an uncut bumper and intact unibody though, otherwise it will just look like every other cobbled 124 turbo...

With the 6+ gallon capacity in the super wagon I have driven for over an hour in traffic then 2.5+bar boost runs and AC blasting with zero heat soak. In fact the IC and lines will be cool to the touch, with ice added you can get well below ambient...something that is impossible with an A2A.

It takes a very long time to heat up that much water with properly sized side mount radiators. Plus you are not putting the charge air heat directly back into the radiator and condenser (if you keep the AC) and are impervious to telephone poles

My diesel had a decent size intercooler behind an uncut bumper, no one knew at all. My brother has a W2A kit on his turbobandits E320, and it does do well, but his heat exchanger took the spot of one of his aux fans and after that it was trial and error to find a new fan setup to keep his car cool in this traffic. Also this car sits in stop and go Florida blistering heat traffic for about 45min to an hour and even his E320 see's higher IAT's for a while even after traffic has started moving again.

I'll have to check the dimensions of the radiators I used, but they fit perfectly behind the stock e320 bumper and even better behind the 036

The oil cooler fits great in the passenger side aux fan hole also

O’ Nooooooo, But, But, But Why???

We haven’t seen any video of you trying to burn the tires off of it.

Really, sorry to see you throw in the towel on your project. I know it must have been a lot of hard work just to get to this point. Seems like you were very close to completion. Y/N?

I've been driving it around at 6psi. It's just a never ending thing with this car and gasoline engines. Mixture has to be perfect, idle has to be adjusted, need a intercooler, need a resistor installed, then this touches that, and that's in the way of this. Then I let it sit for 4 days and it breaks while sitting . Ever since my OM603 swapped dodge has been drivable the interest in the 400E has been gone.

    Re: Turbo 400E

Also, right after I made the for sale ads the 400E breaks. Hop in it to go to autozone for some brake cleaner. Put it in reverse and it feels like there's something behind the tire. Check all corners and nothing. Put it in reverse again and hit the gas and it moves a little bit and then abruptly stops like the park hammer has engaged. Try it again with more throttle and you can hear the trans whining. Check fluid and everything is fine. Forward gears work beautifully. So the reverse gear is hitting the front pump. If I remove the trans then it'll be the 5th time in two years . Someone is interested in trading his '87 300D for it and I'm entertaining the thought.

    Re: Turbo 400E

Is it on the original 722.3 trans or 722.6 update? Hopefully you will find a buyer interested in keeping the m119 turbo dream alive! Great thread and I enjoyed reading it thus far

    Re: Turbo 400E

Just letting you guys know that I'm working on swapping the 400E to diesel, and I'm selling the turbo kit, both engines, megasquirt and everything else associated with the V8 turbo build for $1500 if anyone wants it, or you know someone who is interested.

    Re: Turbo 400E

Have you guys heard of this issue before? Trans works fine at higher speed, but once you get to about 35mph and below it won't down shift, even manually. You'll sit at 35mph in 4th and let go of the accelerator and it'll drop to an idle. Hit the gas again and it revs up freely till it reaches it's desired rpms and it'll catch 4th again and keep going.
I can down shift manually at 45mph and up and it has no issues. Possible clogged filter?

Just thought I'd share this cool little modification I'm preparing for the 400E. I'll also be ditching the tachometer for an AFR gauge.

Sorry for the number of what seems to be the same pictures, but this is just showing that it's a 6psi gauge now and how it shows each psi on the economy gauge.

The white faceplate isn't for me. I'm looking for the same kind of feeling you get when you hop in an 80's/90's Turbo car, where they modified the cluster to give it a boost gauge, and you know it's a monster.

    Re: Turbo 400E

Just messing around at work. I have a black face plate for the AFR gauge somewhere. I'll need to swap over to it and swap in the modified eco gauge once everything is cleaned and repainted.
