WTB: Bergwerks / FGSSwitch / electronic First Gear Start Module

    Hi gang ---

Does anyone have an electronic FGS module they are looking to part with? I'd like to purchase it and use it.

I have a FGS valve body on my 500E and it works well ---- the reason why I'd like to use an electronic module is to tinker around with the 1st-2nd gear upshift schedule.

The VB always upshifts at around 7 mph on light throttle --- I'd like to experiment with increasing this threshold ---- at light throttle ---- to see if it changes the driving experience when going up steep San Francisco hills.

    Thanks.

WTB: Bergwerks / FGSSwitch / electronic First Gear Start Module

I’ve got a new Bergwerks unit with security & sport modes, but it is $1,500 shipped.

I think it’s a very early prototype unit because it’s boxy and has squared off edges.

Thanks Gerry! For some reason I thought the Bergwerks stuff is more around a couple hundred $ or so (what I saw the FGS stuff has sold for on the secondary market) .... perhaps it is because the FGS that I saw sold to Matin doesn't have the functionality that the Bergwerks unit does ---- or perhaps its because the FGS unit doesn't have the security mode? I wasn't around here when these were sold new so please forgive me if this is what they sold for when new.

I appreciate the offer! Let's see if any others pop up .... many thanks.

Nah, the price is a typo, Gerry misplaced the decimal point. I believe it's s'posed to be $15,000.

That Bergwerks unit needs to be put in a display case next to gen I oiler tubes.

So wait, let's get this right, is the shipping $1550? and $15,000 for the module?
How many of these exist in the four corners of the world, 25?

He might be able to sell it to whomever buys the black $90k car from Canepa.

Re: WTB: Bergwerks / FGSSwitch / electronic First Gear Start Module

The Bergwerks unit cost me about $250 when I bought it new back in the 2004 time frame. I bought two of them - one for my E500 (where it's been installed since) and one for my 560SEC, where I used and tested it, but removed it.

They went out of production after that point, and have not been reproduced since. Hence, the price. I don't really want to sell it, which is why the price is what it is. If someone REALLY wants it, then they can have it. The FGSSwitch is probably a more realistic option for most folks, and perhaps easier to find?.

I don't know anything about these but I've got a lot of info in my service records about the Bergwerks FGS module, the E/S switch, and the keyless entry. Don't have a keyless entry fob if the system is there, but the car does have a E/S switch added--can't confirm that it does anything though. Car seems to start in second except under heavy load, and has a really nasty 3-1(?) kickdown where it then won't upshift and just bangs the rev limiter unless I back out of it. And then when I get back in it the process begins again. I was planning on removing the system if it is there and just using a 400 VB... sounds like maybe this is something I need to dig a little deeper on? Wonder if the unit is tuned poorly and affecting my upshift.

The car should start in first if you give it 3/4 throttle from a stop (will drop from 2 to 1). And of course will start in first if you move the shift lever to the "B" position, then back to D, while stopped.

Your kickdown hitting the rev limiter sounds like a separate issue, but you'll need to do some additional diagnostics. First thing would be to locate the BW FGS module, if present, and see if disconnecting it changes anything. If not located in the roll-top box, pull the shifter console wood and check for aftermarket wiring, follow the wires to find the module. Using a FGS VB from the .034 is a less complicated solution, but doesn't allow switching back & forth between 1st and 2nd gear starts.

Re: WTB: Bergwerks / FGSSwitch / electronic First Gear Start Module

OK I'm pretty sure I have the module in the roll-top. I thought it was something connected to the aftermarket sound system someone had installed, as there's also a subwoofer dizzy in there.

Definitely going to need to investigate.

Sorry Jlaa didn't mean to thread jack... I was searching for info and about ready to take mine out and offer it up!
