He's (yet again) showing how totally classless he really is by trying to trash that car on BaT.
    What a $%&T&$&^(*^%

He can't help himself, AMG- I don't think so:

I’ve bought and sold five cabriolets over the past 8 years and restored(not repaired or maintained), 2 of them. Of which both were Sportlines and/or AMGs. Through all the data research and with all the contacts cultivated through the years with both present and former MBUSA, Classic Center and Daimler employees very familiar with the climate, culture and market of the companies when this model was first built, brought to market, sold and maintained through warranty no one has ever ventured to officially or otherwise claimed that over 33,000 of the A124; in any configuration, were ever built. At the time it would have been physically impossible given the circumstances of the factory upgrading to robotics at the time, and alongside the existing old assembly lines where these models were essentially still hand-built onto the chassis.

Woah, I think his inane comments drove the price of that car up.

Surprised no one noticed the hood pad needs replacing.

Well, the listing did mention "The seller recommends replacing the shocks and notes that some various rubber components and seals may require addressing as well." ... which might include the hood pad.

BTW, did anyone notice 93AMGA126Cab's claim (in the 10/21/17 comment) that there was a hardtop available for the A124? I'm almost certain this did not exist from the factory, but perhaps there was an aftermarket hardtop.

If he had the hydraulic cylinders rebuilt I wonder what other seals need addressing.

There was an aftermarket hardtop but I do not think it was from MB.

I'm not even looking for an R230, but when they're done in a really nice color and in top shelf condition, they sure do stand out.

I cannot help but be reminded of an SLR with this one. Perhaps 80% the size and performance, for 20% of the price?

This is one of the lowest priced A124s I've come across. And it's in a relatively unusual color. Tourmaline - 2690

The 7 liter would be pretty cool, but the gauge cluster mod. Barf and a half.

Why does what I think to be the speedo still have a 1/min marking on the lower portion?

I think that they want you to solve for an unknown with the markings on that $1250 gauge face. lol

But seriously, it does appear that the equation is incorrect.

    Re: Contemplating the Cabriolets

Encore is in Sarasota... been cruising their lot for over 20 years. They do a good job. They’re the the first ones who turned me on to used Benzes. This is just a sampling of what lurks in those woods... like a 60k Mile enthusiast owned and maintained 500E that’s not even listed for sale. Translation — what gets listed is the tip of the iceberg.

My mechanic let go of his ‘04 SL55, silver over red with under 50k on the clock for $20k a couple years back. Go figure. Of course, I drove it before he let it go, contemplated dumping the M3 for it. What a ride! If only it had 4 seats.

    Re: Contemplating the Cabriolets

For those of you with an interest in a W124 cab there are now 2 on BAT--I am not sure why they list competing cars but...

The auction ending soonest is 1994 41K miles white with a blue interior that seems to be attracting a lot of interest https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1994-mercedes-benz-e320-cabriolet-10/

I wish my wheel wells were that clean. The second is a 1995 Tourmaline (Emerald) over parchment, 78K miles history not perfect and not many good detail pictures.

    https://bringatrailer.com/listing/19...s-benz-e320-9/

The last low mileage 1995 cab sold at about 25k these two won't hit that IMO.

I posted a similar car back in post #197... it was a '98 M120 car in white, no AMG pkg, 6K miles, $30K Ask.

    This one is a '98 M120, no AMG, 26K miles, $24,5 Ask.

I love my SL55, it's truly a fantastic car and having a hard top convertible makes a convertible worth living with.

Exactly. As opposed to these (and R129s), where you have to store a roof...

    https://bringatrailer.com/listing/19...benz-560sl-60/

But a nice specimen anyway. Almost nothing beats a well cared for Mercedes.

My weekend top down cruiser is still a performance car, but if ever that didn't matter, one of these might tick all the boxes nicely.

I think that these are incredible bargains. To me, the first generation CLK's are as beautiful today as they were when they first came out and better looking than the model replaced it. How they're so cheap is beyond me.

    Re: Contemplating the Cabriolets

It was RNM day on BAT. The R107 topped out at 25K bid which was not to going to do it. There was a 1993 300CE cab, high miles but not bad that also didn't meet reserve. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/19...-benz-300ce-9/

It was to the effect"ho hum another plain cab in dealer spec. Now the AMGs [or words to that effect] are really special." He was peeing in the thread just to be annoying.

Yes, I greatly miss my R230. Many times I've wished I still had the car. The folding top is an engineering delight. I was just so paranoid about the ABC and electrical system but after rebuilding the rear subframe and suspension on my 1994 I know there is nothing I couldn't repair myself on the R230.
