1992 Mercedes Benz 500E 76,xxx Miles

This 500E has been properly cared for and serviced since new. This is an honest solid low mileage car, and comes with all maintenance records from the original date of delivery on 6/10/1992. The car was purchased with an extended warranty and maintained by the original Mercedes dealership in Orlando Florida until 2005 and then continued at another Mercedes specialist in the Orlando area until, I was lucky enough to purchase the car in July of 2015 from the niece of the original owner. The car comes with an amazing packet of paperwork (which includes service records, original window sticker, sales invoice, and other items from the dealership like the paint sample book, and a welcome letter from Mercedes really neat stuff for any car nerd like myself) Over the last 25 years any item that needed to be addressed or fixed was taken care of. Some of the most notable documented items prior to my ownership were (off the top of my head, I'm sure I'm forgetting a bunch)

- New transmission
- New suspension parts front and rear including self-leveling accumulator.
- New headliner

I live in Los Angeles and the car grew up in Orlando so it is absolutely rust free and the original paint shows very well, with a few minor imperfections upon close inspection. Since taking delivery of the pristine condition stock car, I have installed H and R sport springs and changed the wheels to re-conditioned 18" Mono Blocks (still have original wheels) also swapped out the steering wheel for an AMG style one that matches the wood trim (have original) Some of the notable items I've replaced over the past 2 years are (again I'm sure I'm forgetting a ton of items, but can go over paperwork and add items later)

- The power steering pump
- Alternator
- Engine mounts (OEM)
- Tuned up less than 500 miles ago, new plugs wires, distributor caps, etc.
-Newer Tires and Brakes.

As far as I know the wiring harnesses have not been changed, but have been checked regularly by my mechanic and they show no signs or symptoms of needing to be replaced. They are not the slightest bit brittle. Anything and everything that needs replacing and or servicing has been done.

That was a different car in my same neighborhood... that car was sold back to someone in Germany, last year. This one is cleaner and lower mileage.

Beautiful and clean car, the rims sit perfect on H&R’s.
The only thing IMO the car needs is Euro lenses.

Regarding the Engine wiring harness.. before purchasing the car I was dead set that replacing them would be the first thing I did upon delivery, but once I received the car and had my mechanic look it over he said it was not the slightest bit necessary (either they had been changed and I don't have record of it or they are just holding up), side note he has a 500E as his daily, and lastly he didn't recommend I rebuild the engine now either, because it will eventually need one.

The upper wiring harness, even if it is eco-junk, may look fine on the outside, but I guarantee that any early non-Delphi eco-junk wiring harness will be completely FUBAR inside the black insulation jacket.

In my case, everything seemed to run just fine --- until the aux cooling fans started going haywire and the AC compressor refused to engage. I replaced the upper wiring harness and everything went back to normal.

Here is the label from my car.
So it appears that the harness was already replaced and I either missed the invoice or I didn't receive it with the car. Thanks again @Jlaa for the direction of where to find out if it was a replacement. Not surprised it was already done with the substantial service records I do have, nothing was ever left unaddressed. I'll check the lower harness when I stop by the shop.

I find that comments on pricing depend on 2 variables:

And that's the best way anyone can put it. Which is why willing buyers meeting willing sellers is always the ultimate test. The rest is a peanut gallery by definition. One guy asked about driving these versus the R129 500 or 600. I started to point out the shared running gear and weight difference but caught myself. If he doesn't know that already, it's probably not worth a comment from me. Nice car. The comments do have me thinking about the tint, but that's more because I've been thinking of renewing mine, and to what color. I value the UV protection in the south, but I still have to account for taste.

On the subject of tint: I'm a big fan of 3M ColorStable dye-based tint. It is not metalized like most less-expensive tints, so it will not interfere with your fuzzbuster performance. And, it does not turn purple after a few years, and has a lifetime warranty for both bubbling and color change. It's not cheap, but it's the only tint I will put on my cars. Comes in your choice of 4 flavors... er, shades.

I am also a fan of tinting. My eyes are easily bothered by ultraviolet light.
