    FS: Refinished M119 cams covers

I had these used covers blasted and painted with 'Haze Gray' .... an incredibly durable military paint.

Comes with the 2 black plastic wire covers (no big nuts tho) and a new decal on the correct cover and position.

$250 shipped in the USA. Paypal preferred.

Did you use any magnesium conversion coating prior to painting? They are magnesium.

Yes, the painter has a Corvette and is familiar with the magnesium covers and the correct way to prep and paint them.

He actually asked if they were a magnesium alloy even before I mentioned it. Sharp guy. I got him doing sets in black and a green this week for a few local owners.

    MIL-spec Magnadyne

First the units were degreased in a dip tank, then grit blasted to remove the oxidation and old paint, a brushed on coat of magnadyne followed by the 2 stage paint.

Re: FS: Refinished M119 cams covers

That's a great price. I can't even get the powder coating done for $225, not to mention acquisition cost and shipping....

I'm going to get my remaining set coated in red and put them on my car when I do the chain rails, water pump and front crank seal.

Re: FS: Refinished M119 cams covers

Wishing the paint shop here had other colors....would be neat to do a Brabus red and a Carlsson blue set.

I haven't made friends with the powder coat shop guys yet...they have some odd colors (as well as normal like red, silver etc.)....still trying to figure out what on a Submarine gets powder coated purple !

I'd be happy to hook you up with a red set G for way less than what your local place needs to get....when I get in with them. Hopefully over the summer...

Finally found out what gets a coat of purple ! Only one Sub in this squadron, the USS Minnesota, is allowed to replace their blue painted and coated parts with purple....the Capt. is a native and a huge Vikings Fan ! No lie.

Re: FS: Refinished M119 cams covers

I'll snap a pic when the part(s) are finished in the shop(s) ....which should be soon since it is coming into drydock this September for a major overhaul.

I won't be able to take a pic of the parts installed inside the Sub tho...unless I want a serious beating and some brig time.

Got a black set of covers done, they came out awesome.

Here is a shot of the Minnesota...if you look closely, the bow cleats have been painted Viking Purple, when stowed though they flip around and are smooth with the hull; the exterior finish is a super tough black paint, same as on the cam covers.

These winch wheels; they 'might' be done in purple on the Minnesota instead of the standard black polyamide.

A COM mast getting the black polyamide.
