    File this under “Me want.”
I suppose the manual trans counteracts the negative torque at low end spit out by the 3.0 liter 24valve motor.....

    Re: FS: 1992 300CE-24 Sportline 5 speed

Some dumbass named Klink just put this on the BAT listing...

What a cool car! Also, it would be a joy to drive. Not a deal breaker here, but just FYI, that hydraulic fluid reservoir at the left inner fender is probably there only to serve the automatic locking differential, which this car does have. There is no evidence that it has a rear suspension leveling system, which was optional on this car, but was almost never ordered. The hydraulic pressure reservoirs to support it are generally mounted in the trunk forward of the spare tire, and they are not in the photograph. An alternate mounting location would be underneath, relatively close to the springs. Given that there are no undercarriage pictures of that area, I can’t say for sure, but I would be very surprised if it had rear suspension level control. Delighted, mind you, but also surprised…

Not sure what gear ratio this car has on it. I would much prefer a overdrive 5th gear and some deeper gearing.

Axle ratio is 3.27 on this car.

Allegedly the 717.450 transmission has 1:1 fifth gear, no overdrive, per this website:

I am glad to see the interest in this car by at least two members here. It's a rare car and someone is going to enjoy it.

Yes, if I had even a slight need for a car, I would have gone down to Florida and checked this thing out, though I am no particular fan of the perfectly torqueless KE/CIS 104, this thing is probably great with the manny trans, something else I am not necessarily the worlds biggest fan of, but I’ll bet this particular combination of chassis and running gear just sings.

RNM @ $12,300. Apparently the eBay BIN was ~$15k. Seems the market has spoken and the value is probably pretty darn close to the high bid. Note that bid #2 was $12k, and #3 was down to $11k, 4th bid was $10k.

After looking at the pics again, despite the insane €€€€ spent on repairs & maintenance, it's really an unfinished project car. I'm not sure if the seller is going to get the ±$15k he's looking for, at least in the current market. Really neat car, but requires just the right buyer IMO.

The comments from the Seller indicated he sold it outside of BAT. Sorry BAT. Interesting car, and a good lesson is don't have your MB repaired in France.

I just saw that. Does BaT allow an external sale, after an auction ends as RNM? I'd assume their fine print would still require someone to pay up...

Yes, BaT shares the highest bidder and seller's contact information with the other.

Soooo... even if RNM, they can complete the deal outside BaT and avoid the fees? Wow!

Seller paid his fee up front. Buyers can't bid without giving BAT a credit card and if they are the winning bidder BAT collects on the credit card even if the deal doesn't close.

OK... but in this case, the "winning" bidder did not meet reserve, so he's not charged anything. Seller paid listing fee. The actual buyer was someone else who didn't bid at all; so BaT would not get commission on the actual sale price, since the deal was consummated outside their systems. Probably not a common occurrence.

The seller posted that the Buyer had not bid through BAT but how does BAT enforce that. And if RNM then I would assume BAT can't collect if a deal is made outside of BAT. I have not seen the fine print of their listing agreement. That could lead to RNM, seller tells bidder what they need to make the deal, and buyer pays seller more and BAT zero.

20 of the last 80 BaT auctions went RNM.
That really doesn't seem all that bad, assuming it holds up over a larger sample size.
