    FEELER: plastic parts under windshield

Does anyone need a set of the plastic parts (the water drain trays and upper firewall parts) for the E500E? I have a full set of these plastic drain panels/channels/trays, and thought someone could benefit from them. If not I'll just keep them as spares for my parts hoard, but would love to see them go to a good home if someone needs a nice set.

Perfect. Otherwise I wouldn't bother with even mentioning them. I only would sell something that is perfect/as from the factory, and the baseline test is "would I put it on MY own car or not?".

Again, it's only a FEELER to see if people are interested.....and hence why this is in the OFF-TOPIC forum, not the "FOR SALE" forum.

If folks don't care, then I'll just tuck away in my basement.

Gerry, I'd take them if you're OK with them living out their days on a proletariat/pedestrian machine. Several of my drain trays were broken but still functional.

I have a similar situation, they function great but one of my welds (plastic melted riveting) has separated. If and unless a777fan is in dire straights with abused plastic, reach out to me privately. Otherwise I am interested.

Warning: The drip trays / gutters on each side below the windshield are different between pre-facelift, and post-facelift. Ditto for the center section below the wiper. Make sure you are getting the correct items.

One side is cheap new, the other side, not so much...

Re: FEELER: plastic parts under windshield

GSXR brings up a good point that I should have -- these parts are for a pre-facelift machine ... meaning that they are for a car that DOES NOT have the cabin filters. Indeed they are different animals.

If there is a call for these things in good condition, I will start pulling the nicest examples from cars I find.

Also to note ... I had this same problem happen with the melted plastic welds on my (former) E320 "Stag-wagen".

I fixed it with JB Weld, which worked a charm. See my M104/W124 Top-End Rebuild HOW-TO for more information.

The later cars' plastic welds don't seem to be as good as the earlier cars' are.

Re: FEELER: plastic parts under windshield

No toes, and No issue for me. Mine are in good shape, just not new out of the box as they have been removed many times before me, and one has lost its plastic weld. Still functional, just a nit picky part for me. So if Honch post them for sale at a fare price, I would strongly consider them on a first come first served basis.

    EDIT

I am Out with a 94 post facelift machine! Thanx GSXR, all

These plastic pre-facelift water channels are SOLD, packed and getting mailed very shortly !!

    Four pieces in the box:

    - right side channel + downspout
    - left side channel + downspout
    - center channel with screens (below windshield wiper)
    - top of firewall piece (which rubber seal goes on top of)

All in very nice condition. You facelift guys missed out on some good stuff !!

I just reinstalled mine after a JB weld type repair the day you posted. I think they are worth harvesting and will begin to pay attention to them as well.

No question they will go NLA at some point. More for the hoard, I guess.

Re: FEELER: plastic parts under windshield

I have 3x or 4x sets of these put away. Each time I part out a pedestrian w124 I keep these plastic trims and seals if in good condition. Pre and post facelift versions. Indeed I am going to convert my 320CE back to pre facelift trims under the windshield as I don't care much for the later 1 part rubber seal in terms of ease of access. It needs a new windshield also anyway which will be aftermarket and likely will not include the plastic strip at the bottom to take the rubber seal so this will resolve both issues for me.
