    Windscreen washer fluid nozzle upgrade?

    Hello all

Apologies if this is the wrong section however I have always thought the w124 windscreen nozzle spray is a little lame/trickles and prefer the pressure and the spray pattern of the later MBs.

I have of course cleared it out however all the w124s I have seen have the same pressure/spray pattern.

Has anyone retrofitted the nozzles from a newer MB or other cars to a w124?

    Cheers

There are no drop-in replacement nozzles that I'm aware of. However, you can upgrade the pump to a "high output" version, part number 140 869 02 21. It's a direct plug and play replacement for the stock pumps.

Generally if the system is in good nick, it should spray with some good authority. It's probably a matter of replacing the nozzles and pumps for proper operation.

Speedy's 140 retrofit is interesting -- but what I see as the main problem is that each of those 140 pumps lists at $190....discounted to around $140-145 apiece.

That's some pretty spendy squirting, as compared to the "pedestrian" pumps (A2028690021), which list out at $52 apiece, discounted to around $40 each.

    Cheers,
    Gerry

Fortunately, this is one of those rare cases when the Febi-Bilstein part is a reboxed OEM unit, made by MES in Switzerland.

The Febi X ref to 1408690221 is 08677 which seems to retail about £28GBP / $37USD

Massive help guys thanks. I guess no nozzles however drop in that can change the spray pattern. I'm going to give this Febi part a try.

Don't forget the check valves. Those can partially clog- been a problem for me at times. Cheap to replace, but cleanable too.

Thought I recall that the W201 three-nozzle squirters would fit on the 124 hood, but I don't know for sure, and also don't know if that will perform how you'd like...

    Dave:

The three hole squirters are from the early W201 84/85 with that have the central hole in the hood and right side parking non articulating wiper arm. Once Mercedes went to the later left side parking articulating wiper arm they also went with dual squirters, but they only had 2 holes vs three.

There's probably debris in your nozzles. Find the thinnest copper wiring you can, and try to clear them out. That's what my guys end up doing. Some distilled vinegar in the reservoir won't hurt, if the car sits for extended periods. I'm in FL, and mold in the reservoir is a constant problem.

    GL, hope this helps.
