    Information wanted on 1994 E500 VIN

    Does anyone have information about this specific car they could share. Thank you.

    Suggestion: Provide the VIN # in the body of the post, so people won't have to twist their neck and copy it manually.

    113k mikes located in Carmel, Ca
    great condition, claims to be a one family car. Daughter of original owner who passed has possession.

    Unposted and For sale privately. $25k. Does anyone think that 92-93 year models are more collectible than 94 models ? If so, what premium do they hold over 94 models?

    Bottom line: it's 100% subjective. It all comes down to whether you prefer the more "classic" look of the pre-facelift cars, or the "modern" look of the facelift cars.

    Another key factor is whether the running changes are also preferred -- a few of them being notable, such as the much easier-to-deal-with revised belt-tensioner design, and the larger brakes, of the facelift cars.

    A case can certainly be made that the earlier cars were a bit more costly to produce, and had some interesting features that were phased out, such as the aluminum cam-oiler tubes and the silver lettering on top of the airbox, among a few other things. All pre-facelift cars, and some early facelift ones, also had the closed-deck block -- this is an imperative feature for all of the guys out there who are hard at work building 6-liter variants of their M119s.

    The most subjective thing is color, however. Some people LOVE and HATE various external/internal color combos.

    My philosophy is that if you find the right car in your desired color combo, in the mechanical + cosmetic condition you want, and at the right price, who gives a rat's ass about the YEAR of it?

    BUY IT !!

    IMO, the 1994 models should be more valuable, simply because they are the rarest, based on USA imports. 393 of the 1994 imported, out of 1528 total, makes them less than 26% of all USA-spec 036's.

    1994 model year also has some additional advantages, such as: headlights+wipers that do not need to be upgraded to Euro-spec, a stereo head unit that can easily be upgraded / replaced to an in-dash CD (Becker TrafficPros are plug+play), larger front brakes (only very late '93 got the brake upgrade), and at the moment you can still snag a pair of replacement headlight lenses for the facelift lights. Oh, and they have the nice block drains for mess-free coolant changes. Plus some other stuff I'm forgetting offhand.

    Edit: And, all 1994's are "Silver Arrow" brake-upgrade-ready, with late LCA's and large rear dust shields... and they have the couple 1993 upgrades too; flip-top armrest and electric driver mirror adjustment, along with the 1993 engine upgrades (auto belt tensioner, reduced weight rotating engine/valvetrain components)...
