WTB: FIRE EXTINGUISHER BRACKET FOR PASSENGER SEAT

LOOKING FOR OEM ORIGINAL BRACKET FOR FIRE EXTINGUISHER IF SUCH A BEAST EXISTS. I ASSUME SINCE ACTUAL EXTINGUISHERS HAVE TO BE UPGRADED OVER TIME THE BRACKET IS WHAT IS IMPORTANT.

The part numbers you are looking for will be in the photos at the link below (sorry, you'll have to click through and look at all of them). ... You should still be able to get the 1.0kg bucket / strap / hardware new, but would have to source the extinguisher itself from Europe, probably eBay, unless someone across the pond on the forum can source them for you.

EDIT - I just caught that you said PASSENGER seat. Yes, the passenger metal bracket exists, part number is in the photo... it's a mirror-image bracket of the driver seat:

    Good luck!

Well you bring up a good point. What side should it be placed on and how large an extinguisher and what chemicals? It is pointless? I assume looking at the pictures you then have to buy the bracket, extinguisher, strap, and cover carpet piece. Please advise if I am correct. I assumed everybody puts them under the passenger so they can lean over but frankly which is better if your car is on fire and you are in a panic? Are these cars known to burn up? I know my own engine bay gets very hot.

I lost a BMW 5 series new to car fire in 2003 (someone had backed into my hood and the positive terminal of the battery shorted out on the hood while I was on the 5 next to downtown LA). Before I could have done anything a cop was banging on my window yelling at me to get out of the car. That car burst into flames 20 seconds after I got out, so fast I could not have raised the hood and put out the fire with a tiny extinguisher. What is the best practices to avoid potential fire on these cars? Anybody put in a engine bay extinguisher system (without hacking up the bay?). Just don't want to lose another cherished car.

I have been on this 500eboard and on 500ECTASY for as long as I can remember (18+years) and can only recall 1 E500E ‘CARBECUE’ and I believe it was for sale as a parts car in Japan. There may be others that someone here may know about of but it won’t be many.

If you’re worried about a fire, maybe you should be investing in replacing fuel lines and the junk eco wiring.

I gave up on this quest to get old brackets and spent fire extinguishers - choosing function first. YMMV

    Gosh, that is small !

Do you beat the flames out with it ? I think a Starbucks coffee might be a better option for any fire supression. j/k

It is small. Have a look at its website, or search Jay Leno's Garage website and it was demonstrated there.
