    Are there 2 version of (late ) ETA plugs

    Purchase this one from eBay thinking it was a ASR from a e420

    The plug looks different than mine does anyone know why ?

    No. Only one version of the “late” ETA plug, plus the early version flat/pancake plug that is totally different.

    Although they may look slightly different, AFAIK they should both plug into the car. Have you tried connecting the spare yet?

    Yes plugged it fits and it does nothing
    is there a sequence?

    key on run position
    wait 2 min
    press gas pedal 1/2 way?

    There's no special sequence, but if you are testing the spare "loose" on top of the motor, not installed... make sure the spare ETA has the throttle linkage in the IDLE position. If so, it should make the usual whirring / buzzing noises. If it is silent, the spare ETA may be DOA. You can check codes on the E-GAS module. Don't forget to clear codes after re-connecting the original ETA. What is the date code on the spare ETA you bought?

    After replacing the ETA, normal synchronization occurs by turning the ignition on for at least 90 seconds before starting the engine. This is documented somewhere in the FSM fine print.

    The ETA is dead.
    Now need to hunt for a replacement spare
