    1992 Mercedes Benz 500E - $16999

    Hello

for sale is this 1992 Mercedes Benz 500E. Its color is smoke silver with pebble/cream interior. The car has 191522 miles on it. The car has a clean title but had an accident ( i have pictures), it got fixed with new Mercedes parts. The timing chains got done at 164k miles. Also new parts include alternator, starter, upper and lower engine harness. The car got brand-new Euro 500E headlights which are protected with laminex. Car can be purchased with refinished staggered set of AMG Monoblock 2 in 8x18 and 9x18. Car also has a Becker Traffic Pro Radio/Navigation. The only real flaw in the interior is the driver seat. The car is a pre October 1992 build so i was partially build by Porsche. No low-ball offers and stupid questions please, if you know what kinda car this is.

Replies only by text. Calls and emails will be ignored.

Don't contact me with unsolicited services or offers, i don't need help selling the car.

But its pre 1992 production so its made by Porsche for a difference compared to 1993 or 1994 models. That alone is worth text hassle

I should have kept those new lights...had I known it was going on a car that would be for sale. Sheesh.

Would asking if the headliner glue has let go be a stupid question?

What crappy pics. He has no photographic ability. Looks like he used an old box camera and then made copies of the pics at the corner drugstore.

How can you tell from the pic that the front headlights are the proper E-Codes? I can barely make them out.

The photo is small, but they are correct 500E lights. Better photos would help. At least the price is within reason.

The chromed interior is easy enough to see...that, and I also supplied the lights to him.

Agreed with Dave, the asking price IS at a good place, all things considered.

Duh!! I didn’t pick up on that. I guess I asked the 1st STUPID QUESTION.

I must note that when I looked at the CL pics they were very dark for some reason. Dave’s posted pics are much better than what I saw earlier. Even I can see they are E-Codes now.

Are these cars really selling at these prices or do all E550E owners smoke crack?

If you're a long-term and valued member of this forum, we have good deals on E500E crack. Keep it low, though.

R129 Xenon lights are worth that too but you can still find them on $3,000 cars. I just got offered a 2000 E39 M5 for about 1/3 the price.
It's a nicer looking car with less miles. I'm probably going to turn it down.

It's odd, they're no longer that fast, it's not a coupe or convertible, the engine was shared with other models, and the ones coming up for sale are not exactly low mileage originals.

At the prices they're going for, there must be a lot of flippers buying and selling them to each other.

Wow, I’m at 190k on my 4.2... took a “business” round of golf and my playing partner walks up and says, “Wow I had that same car!! Oh..., no I didn’t, that’s a 4.2!! I can’t believe it!!” One of the guys who started MoviePass.

Must be an Allroad thing. Mine is a pearl black over platinum grey with the APR tune, upgraded Magnaflow exhaust with Lamborghini cats, RNS-E head unit upgrade, S6 mirrors and alcantara headliner, and RS6 replica 19’s. Here’s a couple pics before the S6 mirrors. If I could do a 6MT swap on a 4.2...

Which means they didn’t pay $17k in the first place, and now they realize that at that mileage there’s no money to be made flipping it. All of which we know. My guess is they got into it for $12.5-ish and now realize that getting out of it for “par or better” is the new winning.

But if he gets any pre-2010 BMW M manual as a trade, he won.

Steering wheel has been changed in latest photos from the earlier ones. And not for the better, IMHO......

I see he has the old one potentially offered with the car?

That's a steering wheel from a 98 R129 SL500. Not my favorite design but it lives in one of my cars.

I think they used that wheel in the later W202s as well.

Wife hates the wheel in her R129. Says the horn buttons are not in the correct place ergonomically. She wants to hit the center pad and never remembers the buttons are on the edge. Maybe Germans drive differently?

It could be worse. Euro Ford's of the same era had the horn on the turn signal stalk

At least the horn actuators aren't tiny recessed buttons like on the 1st Gen Miata. Same with Ford trucks from 90s.

Is that like Mercedes' "visual horn"?

No doubt. I don't ride with her, so I have no idea and I don't want to know. Ignorance is bliss in this case, guys.

Thanks, Jimbo... I’m noticing the RS6 reps on yours as well. I think they do for Allroads what AMG mono’s do for 500Es. BTW, I have my guy looking for a 6MT donor now.
