    Looks like a nice car.

Any explanation why it has the incorrect taillights? Possible rear end collision at some point?

I HAD THE TRUNK TRIM PANELS OUT ON THE LEFT SIDE AND ALL THE PANEL SEALANT IS UNDISTURBED SO I DON'T THINK ITS HIT AND THE CARFAX DOESN'T SHOW IN CLAIMS/ACCIDENTS.

REGARDING BACK-UP SENSOR INSTALL, ELDERLY OWNER SO THAT MIGHT EXPLAIN THE TAIL LIGHT ISSUE AS WELL.

Uh, not to pick nits, but it can't be a "one owner car" if you aren't the original owner. Sorry, but I just have a real problem with people making claims like these when they're patently false. And really, in the case of a car like this "one owner" enhances the value about as much as stating that it's got "ICE COLD AIR!!"

That's a different scenario, but yeah, I don't like it when dealers pull that stuff... particularly when racking up miles on said car while driving it for months or years.

Not the case here of course, but since you brought it up!

It's always seemed to me the easy way to avoid the "# of owner's BS" would be to describe a car like this as "two owners, one user..." with virtually the same implications as "one owner".

More to my point - I don't care if the car had seven owners, if it was well cared for and has good provenance, the number of owners means nothing. I've seen one owner cars that were total turds because the owners cared little for them. So to me the term "one owner" holds little, if any, significance. It's pure used car lot puffy shirt salesmanship. And when it's clearly not the case when I see it in an ad it gives me pause.

    Re: 1994 E420 - Black/Gray - Black Leather - 1 Owner - 57,000 miles - $7500

I have one car I bought 40 years ago from the next-door neighbor of the widow of the original owner. He stored it for ten years, and put 50 parade miles on it before selling it to me. He didn't even know what country it had been built in.
I'm the third owner and the second user.

I just bought a remarkable 50 year old true barn find from the second owner, who put on 500 of it's 120K miles in the last 8 years...Again, I'm the third owner but only the second significant user.

    And both look it.

To me it's much more about how long they've owned it than how many owners...The longer and consequently the fewer the better.
And I only buy cars from people, not used car salesmen...

+100. If a car has been sold repeatedly after very short ownership periods, it would give me pause because I’d wonder if each new owner is finding something wrong. But if a car has had a number of owners who each had it for a few years, that’s no worse to me than a car with only one or two owners.

In fact, I’ve wondered whether a larger number of owners might correlate with better condition for enthusiast cars. It seems reasonable to conclude that a new owner of an enthusiast car attends to a lot of mechanical and cosmetic needs early in the ownership cycle and, over time, allows maintenance to defer a little. So new owners catch up on these things.

I’ve thought that, more than anything else, the “one owner” emphasis comes from a psychological desire to find, sometimes immaterial, reasons to differentiate things—ways to convince yourself and others that X is better than Y because X is rarer etc. Humans love to rank things. So if you have two things that seem pretty much identical, you start looking for things to care about so you can rank one above the other even if you didn’t care about those things at all before.

They both look like pretty nice examples. My point of view here maybe a little skewed since I love my 040 500E but if I had my choice here. It’s Black on Black for me. The white is just to plain and dull. Black accentuates that beautiful 124 Bruno Saco shape. Plus+++ it’s $2K less asking price.

    Just my $0.02

The white one is also a stripper... no options, just the standard MBUSA equipment for that year. Still a nice car though.

    Re: 1994 E420 - Black/Gray - Black Leather - 1 Owner - 57,000 miles - $7500

I have always equated the label "one owner" as an indication of a traceable maintenance history. Much more important to me than how many owners as others said. Seven owners with all the records?... I'm interested. Yes, another marketing phrase. I do think this is a great car for the asking price.

Appreciate all your input and advise. I bought this car from the original owner and was going to sell my ML350 and keep it, but the wife intervened. So we never titled it to ourselves and decided to sell it on. Were very fortunate to find a buyer for the car and she'll be making her way back to the Germany shortly.

    Cheers to all!

Congrats on the quick flip. Other flippers are going to be jealous.
