rubber oil pump suction pipe NLA?

    Hi guys,

I'm rounding up the chainjob on my 500SL 6.0AMG, but I'm having trouble with one part: the oil pump suction pipe... can't order it at MB, and it seems that nothing is available online too...

    Anyone else noticed this?

News to me! Have you called a Mercedes dealer and asked them to check the codes in the inventory system (Paragon)? That should tell them if it's on backorder, temporary NLA, or permanent NLA.

Seems all the aftermarket vendors are showing either OOS or Backorder...

My dealer said it was backorder, but said it could take months, or never.

It aint broken, but very stiff... and new is always better

The rubber sleeve alone, 110 186 00 07 shows no MB stock anywhere in the world. The sleeve together with screen assembly subs from 110 180 03 55 to the 601 180 01 55. There are at least 70 available of the 601 180 01 55. Yes, I know it looks different. Don't worry about it.

Ordered it with a bit of delay at my local MB dealer, and it would only cost 3€?

is 6011800155 really the correct part number then?

Re: rubber oil pump suction pipe NLA?

Part came in today, and it is just the screen... explains the 3.35€ costprice.

Also ordered the febi 06799, and that is too high compared to the original one... I can't fit the sump with that one.
It's also not the updated bigger one. Guess I will have to put back my old (hardened) one? It isn't defective, but sucks anyway.

The rubber is normal to be thicker/higher since it presses against the stamped sheet metal pan. The old ones usually fozilize in this shape

This is a pretty critical part to go NLA.....

aha, so you really do need to press the oilpan against it and just tighten it up?

here is my old vs the new febi 06799

    20180923_110314.jpg

feels a bit weird that the entire engine would be provided of oil trough those 4 side-openings in that pick-up rubber.

Both of those look narrow like the original part. I am not at home right now but are you quite sure you are searching for the latest part number of this pick up tube? Note that MB revised the design so the newer version is larger diameter. The picture below is from page 9 in my owners thread and shows the original pick up rubber VS the new one from MB

Yes the larger updated OEM part is prefered, but it is NLA it seems (at least for now). I ordered the Febi alternative, but that 06799 item is also narrow indeed

I ordered 110 180 03 55, let's hope that is correct. Should cost 17€ so worth the guess lol.

1101800355 is indeed the correct part number for the updated bigger rubber pickup AND the screen.

Installed it this evening and perfect fit.

So the 110-180-03-55 is still available? That's good news!

Well, sorry it turned out to be shitty info, but we were disinformed by MB.

When I searched this issue for this thread recently, there was no stock for the 110-180-03-55 shown anywhere in the world. The EPC clearly shows the 110-180-03-55 being replaced by the 601 180 01 55. The MB parts inventory system showed lots of those available. Well, we’ve seen what happened, as Steve119 reports that the 601 part number is only the screen without a suction tube. Interestingly enough, that same inventory system now shows some of the 110 180 03 55 available.
    Go figure.

Now, interestingly enough for those of you using terms like “new version/old version/updated”, please be advised that the largemouth 110 version WAS the early version of this part as far as internal diameter size goes. It is from the M110 twin-cam six engine that went into production in the early 70s.
The 116/117 and subsequent V8 engines got the smaller ID oil pick up considerably later in thier production, IIRC, around the time that they switched to KE injection and EZL ignition, along with a host of other changes in late ‘85, but it may have happened shortly before or shortly after that, and they obviously continued with that smallmouth version at least until some point in the 119. It looks like they were even using them interchangeably for s period.
SO, now at least for replacement parts, it looks like they have fully REVERTED BACK to the earlier larger I.D. suction tube(?)

Not that I think it matters one way or another, but if somebody actually wanted the smaller diameter opening tube that they may be pulling out of an engine, it looks like that MAY also still be available with the part number 102-186-00-07. I can’t say for sure, and I’m not curious enough to order one to find out. I’m just glad to know that the most obviously non-potentially restrictive 03 55 has apparently bubbled to the top of the inventory system. Hopefully it won’t totally disappear again...

Frustrating as hell this stuff, sometimes...

    Great info again

Without those numbers I wouldn't have found the solution, so still a big thank you
