Should Cosmoline be removed from engine bay ?

Thinking about removing the unsightly yellow material, especially found on the foil inner fire wall...
Maybe use oven cleaner or Aircraft paint remover...

What are the board's current thoughts on this ?

Nothing makes a better toothpaste than cosmoline

I've left it on basically because it is so difficult to remove. It does continue to protect things. If you use harsh chemicals as you noted you may damage other items in the process initiating corrosion.

I would leave the Cosmoline alone. It is very durable and despite your best efforts I seriously doubt you will be able to remove all without altering the surface areas of other parts. Moreover, from a Concours Judging point of view, Cosmoline from the factory would not constitute a deduction. My 0.02

I always clean it off- don't like the stuff dripping out.
