Looks nice! What the heck causes the dreaded dot matrix disease in the instrument cluster --- humidity? The interior wood itself looks very smart.

For a top dollar price ask, you think the car would have nicer tires, not what appears to be no-name-brand. The air intake hoses under hood looks funky. The top of front bumper on the R side is wavy. The left side roof moulding is not fitted properly at A pillar and at the rear from what 2 photos show. Not the end of the world but as I said, one would think the dealer would not present an $80k car with those deficiencies.

A good buy at half the asking price.

Nice looking car. The underside looks spotless. Don’t be so picky they are selling originality.

The price looks optimistic but someone out there will make them an offer they can’t refuse. Lets see where it goes.

Car looks good. Dealer presented it well in the pics.

Headlight wipers are positioned properly. No aftermarket radio. Rear windshield is delaminating?

Pricing is absurd, but it will sit for a while and then the dealer will come to their senses.

The pricing is in line with what Haggerty deems as a condition 1 "concours car" ---- That said, it is up to the prospective buyer to determine if this is a "concours condition car".

Hagerty neither Buys nor Sells cars. Their reference prices may or may not be relevant at any point in time for any particular car.

There are nearly 150 036 listings on this forum in CY2018. I consider this data set to be an absolute source for reference pricing. Based on that, I consider this car to be priced far ahead of the market, especially given recent sales and no-sales.

Very important to keep in mind...

That said, the car looks like a twin to mine before I bought it, just not in as good a shape. And I paid less than 1/4 of this price. Jay Leno says these things have gone up 400% since I bought mine, and even if I applied that multiple this price is wishful.

Still, I love to see nice well kept Benzes come up for sale, even if the prices are crazy. Better still, when the prices aren't crazy, as in the '97 600 Coupe I posted earlier in the Big Sedans thread.

    Cheers,

    maw

I think this is a very nice $40-45K car in today’s market, if the cosmetics and maintenance check out.

    $80K is crack-smoking, dealer-flipper pricing. I can’t see even a sucker-buyer paying above $50K for this car.

As always, there is $5-10K of deferred maintenance lurking u see the pretty cosmetics of this car. Prospective buyers need to factor that in.

I was not aware that MB made orange I take air zoom tubes. Perhaps they are “prototype” tubes, similar to the Stevester’s square prototype cam Oiler tubes.

If this car were to actually HAVE the square cam Oiler tubes installed, along with the orange zoom tubes, I could see this rare car approaching $80K.

No French wine or Champagne was involved in the making of this snark post.

$0.15M and higher. Likely to hit $0.2M and above in the next few years.

Man you guys are making me consider dumping my 6.9 and getting into a 500e! Problem is I will need 5x the sale value to get a decent one. Ugh I need to win that Lotto then I can have a stable of V8 Benzes!!!

I’ve heard first hand of solid offers at $0.125+M and higher being made on certain cars. As of several years ago.

It’s a no-brainer that these offers will ratchet up in the not too distant future.

Remember that cars that we were going apoplectic about at $35K not long ago, are now asking and getting nearly thrice that.

That said, the real bargains are to be had once the stock market and economy collapses. Shouldn’t be too long now until that happens.

Mid to long term though, no question that the very best of these cars will be hitting $0.2M, $0.3M and beyond. Stay the course. Keep the faith. And wait out the current market pause.
