SOLD: Rial ARC M800 18" Wheels, EUR 1.600 (North Germany)

Friend of mine want to sell a set. Tell you straight- rims are in rough condition, one rim has a crack. Paint has already been removed. More pictures and videos on demand per Whatsapp possible.

1600 Euro plus shipping from North Germany.
He just got better set of Rials, he gave a 124 230CE plus some money to get those wheels
    I have no financial interest.

Amen to that. By the time they are repaired and refinished, you're talking Neez money, which IMO would be far more desirable. I never really understood the attraction to the Rials due to the narrow width and high offset.

You guys are not up to date....for other set of Rials in good condition offer was made- 3000 Euro. Owner refused to sale them, he said he was looking too long for this set.
    So wake up gents
Anyway, i´m surprised about thoes prices...and it is my fault, cause i made them popular....90% of all pics on internet are mine. Damn

PS Neez...who need Neez....serious fans looking olny for original "Evo" wheels...

The width is acceptable to me although I would like 8.5 much more. It's the ET that limits desirability/price for me. Still, they are the only wheel in 18" with that factory look.

I got my set (with mediocre paint) for $1200 + shipping from NL (no cracks, one wheel very very slightly bent) about 15 years ago. Sold them back to Yellmer for about the same price. I never had them refinished, and used them for about 8-9 years before selling them. Yellmer got a good price....

The prices are crazy indeed, think my set was super fairly priced @2000 euros. They were in good condition, no damages and have been freshly painted in excellent quality from the seller prior i got them delivered.

Oh, I totally agree I'm not up to date. But just because a few people are willing to pay crazy money, doesn't necessarily mean these are the ultimate wheels everyone wants. As Drew said, even if cheap, the offset is a dealbreaker for me. I wouldn't want to run 20mm spacers at high speeds, but that's just me.

Neez are top quality (IMO) forged, lightweight (IIRC), and proper width / offset. I thought the Rials were quite heavy as a bonus? Can't remember if anyone posted weight data. Maybe Gerry saved his USPS receipt sending his set to Jelmer and can tell us the package weight. For ~€3k you could also get full custom lightweight forged HRE, possibly in the width/offset of your choice (in 2pc or 3pc).

I thought the Rial's were cool at Gerry prices, but not at triple that amount. Apparently other people think I'm nuts, which is fine...

Re: SOLD: Rial ARC M800 18" Wheels, EUR 1.600 (North Germany)

I think the Rial wheels are slightly over-rated for E500E use, though they look cool with spacers to put them at a decent offset (which I didn't do).

That said, I owned my AMG Monos and my Rials for many years together, and the more aggressive AMG Mono look won out (for me) over the stock look of the Rials.

I am partial to Evo IIs as well, but have never owned a set. I prefer the look of 18" wheels on the E500E, rather than the stock 16" or 17" diameters. I think 19" is too big.

    Cheers,
    Gerry

Re: SOLD: Rial ARC M800 18" Wheels, EUR 1.600 (North Germany)

IMHO...and i changed my mind after some considerable time of owning a 500E...
Original 16 inch wheel is quicker, much more comfortable than ANY other wheel. I proved that to myself after couple of 100 kkm on very fast ( as usual) autobahn flights ( on both sets- 16 and 18 inch Rials with 200mm spacers) ...I had more parking spaces comparing to rials...i had no worries in rain or snow on 16 8 holes...no problem scratching or bending the rim , there are still plenty out there...etc.
So, any other rim on 036 is only for looks. I agree, looks are veeeery important
But if you want to preserve your baby in fine technichal condition- forget 18 inch and 20 mm spacers....buy a Koenig 126 and be the widest in town

Whoa. 4.66kg is over 10 lbs, that's a huge difference for the wheel alone. And 20kg (44 lbs) for an 18" wheel+tire is very light; almost the same as stock 16".

I totally agree. For real-world driving, the 16" stock setup is darn good. The drawback is it gives up a little handling feel in corners from the tall sidewall, and today it's getting more difficult to locate sticky high-performance summer tires in 225/55/16 size. At least in USA, we're limited to either all-season rubber in that size, or off-brand tires. Moving up to 17's you get a much wider selection including the top-shelf Michelin Pilots.

    Hi Jon,

Yeah, I wish this had been the set for me, as I really, REALLY like the RIALs, but unfortunately these were a bit too rough, just as 036 had forewarned. I guess the search continues.
