Somebody put some effort into updating the interior, facelifting and adding the wide fenders. I owned a similar model for 5 years, fun car!

VIN says the original interior was gray Tex, someone swapped a complete 90-up leather cream-beige interior into the car. Seats look Parchment to me, but either way it's some shade of 'shroom. TON of effort was expended, I wonder what happened.

Who wants them? I might be able to get them, both front and rear if they are still there, I'd feel bad if they just go under press

Wait, you just made an assumption based on one post of a thread?...

I didn't yet, however I'm willing to if anyone is interested...

And i dont go to pick n pull unless i know the car i needed is there, ever since they made online inventory available.

Re: Junkyard 300e with 500e body (Fairfield, CA)

I think what he was getting at, was when there is something as rare and as costly as 500E specific parts at a wrecking yard, it's almost an obligation to the community to snag those parts for the good of everyone. Fenders are not only expensive but probably a part that will not be available from MB for much longer.....so, extremely coveted.

I do the same thing when there is a 400E at a yard - I try to pull parts that I know will be of benefit (if not now, in the future) to the community. It's why I have such a large stash of CAN modules, transmission brackets, ABS/ASR pumps and the like down in my basement....

There's no question that I would remove 500E fenders almost automatically (as long as they were in decent non-rusted condition) from any car that was in a wrecking yard, and add them to my hoard for future sale/use.

I seem to remember getting a 124 Sportline sedan steering box once, from a wrecking yard, and sending it to GSXR.

fenders is not realy the problem if mb doesnt have them anymore recreating them is also not that hard if theres that much demand.

but yea i would get them and sell them to some one who may whant them on here

Totally agree Gary, thats exactly why i offered to fix what OP didn't do, while i don't have space, immediate need, nor much time to drive 180 miles to pull them off for one of you guys. And normally i expect different reaction... thats it

Way to far for me 600+ miles BUT there must be somebody up there. Jlaa? Ricardo? Anybody?

JC220 doesn’t realize how far apart everything in the US really is. I know that I’ve driven 1/2 of the UK in a day.

To me as long as they aren't gonna get scraped it's even better that they are taken... no need to deal with storing/selling/shipping...

It's a shame I didn't notice this thread in time.
I need the right front fender, and I would have taken the left one as well to benefit from combined shipping and kept it for spare.

Arnt, you can still buy new fenders... might be cheaper than shipping overseas, unless you have a freight forwarder.

I haven't checked the price on new fenders, but they're pretty spendy items. Used ones is fine as long as they're free from rust and straight, even with minor dents & scratches, has to be resprayed anyway. I use a freight forwarder in Linden, NJ to get larger/heavy stuff overseas and ship by boat, so the cost would be reasonable.

Arnt, the price may have gone up with the Jan-2019 price increases... I thought they were considerably less just last year. Or my memory is off. Current price is €1090 ($1,250 USD) each including VAT in Europe:
    https://partssearch.mercedes-benz-cl...8?tt=automatic

USA MSRP is $1,100, discount $814:
    https://www.mboemparts.com/oem-parts...der-1248802518

Do you need just the fenders, or also the mouldings which have been NLA for a while now?

I was caught out in the huge price increases that were applied late 2015. In Sept of '15 I bought a fender for £513.60 (sterling) incl. VAT, and by March of '16 the price had increased to £1173 incl. VAT.

(I was told that this happened when responsibility for "classic" car parts moved to the Mercedes Classic Department. Not sure if this is true? Anyone any info on that?).

So if the 2019 price for a fender is, as you quote, Euros 1090, this amounts to around £980 (sterling), so it seems the £1173 I paid in March 2016 was too much, (or MB have reduced their prices???).

Re: Junkyard 300e with 500e body (Fairfield, CA)

I can't answer most of your questions, but I do know that MB has different prices in different countries / regions... and some times, the differences are ridiculous. Around 10 years ago, the door mirror boots were far cheaper in Europe than in USA... ~€40 vs ~$120... it cost less to buy across the pond and have them shipped to USA. They are still cheaper in Europe, but the difference is a bit less.

MB typically does an across-the-board price adjustment around Jan-1 each year. They also publish smaller price updates throughout the year, but it's usually Jan-1 that you want to watch out for. And yes, sometimes the prices go down instead of up. Not often though! And, a susbtantial price drop may indicate either MB dumping inventory to "speed up" NLA status on a part, OR a change in mfr / supplier to a cheaper source while maintaining the same part number.

I try to spot-check prices on a few items every year if possible, to track some changes, but don't have time to keep up with most of it. I also haven't been able to obtain a complete USA price list since 2013, which is a bummer. I used to get that about once per year, and saved all of 'em, between 2002 and 2013. It's depressing to go back and see how inexpensive some items were back then.

Thanks for the price info, guys.
I just had in mind it was way more, but this is in fact not that killing, supposed the 2019 prices doesn't skyrocket. BTW, I'm not comparing to the insane price level here in Morepay, but elsewhere in Europe. I just need the fender, all the other parts for the fender are in place.

Re: Junkyard 300e with 500e body (Fairfield, CA)

Just for kicks, I went thru the motions for ordering a 124 036 front fender/wing. Maybe it’s me but I got nothing. All I came up with was “currently out of stock”.

Great Prices!! If you can actually get the parts. This could be a “Hoarder’s Paradise” for those that go that way.

Maybe r44raven or one of our other UK friends can get more info in regards to re-manufacturing body parts for our cars.

MB Classic says fenders are still available:
    https://partssearch.mercedes-benz-cl...8?tt=automatic

Naperville is not showing discontinued, they'll happily take your $750 per side:

Sorry, I don't have any contacts for re-manufacturing of 036 body parts. You could try Edward Hall (www.edward-hall.co.uk). He's a bit of a guru for MB's of this era, and he may be able to suggest something? I've always found him very good. Or maybe "Jaymanek" (he's a member here) could chip in? He's done a lot of work on 036's, incl. body work, and may have a contact?

When I bought my E500, we found that due to damage inflicted by a (or many!) PO's, the contours of the front fenders were somewhat "inaccurate" - (we all know how important curves are!). So I replaced them with new. But sorry Arnt, whilst I'd love to sell you one (or both) the fenders I have, I am keeping them in case some idiot rams me, and I have to replace one of them. I think using (albeit with a bit of professional "tweeking") my old ones will be preferable to paying the current MB prices for new!

I'm with you regarding the fenders, Stephen. I'm doing the same for my '92 after I acquired the kunststoff fenders, and keep the steelies as spare. However, I'll consider to let the right fender go to the Limited to get the car ready for sale, or at least on the road again.
