    The ad says Malachite Metallic but the car looks way more like Emerald Green to me. Probably the lighting.

    Nice looking car.
    I am curious what others think of the price - at current exchange rate it is $63,946 USD

    If that's Spruce Green, then it's the most fabulous interpretation of the colour I've ever seen. I think it's absolutely gorgeous. If I bought a Spruce Green E500E, I don't think I'd get that colour!

    It could, as Drew says, be Malachite Metallic, but it still looks very bright! But nevertheless, adorable (to me at least!).

    But given all that, I'm not so enthusiastic about the price. One would need to view the car, but I estimate its about £20-25k overpriced?

    Re: FS: 1994 E500, Spruce Green/Black, 103kkm, €56k (Krefeld, Germany)

    Pretty sure that is Spruce / Malachite under odd lighting conditions. Emerald Green is much darker and there were only nine 036's that color out of 10k+ worldwide - I've never actually seen a real Emerald Green 036. There were zero imported to USA.

    Price seems optimistic in the current market, but it's a rare color combo, and the stationary heating is pretty rare too. Neat car.

    Great car in a great color combo!
    Some equipment missing though to be a 1994;
    - el.steering column
    - IR-locking, thought that was standard on all Urop '94 models?
    - rear sunblind
    - flip top armrest
    - has the early autodim.mirror, not period for '94s
    - memory on the drivers seat would be a bonus

    The above missing equipment doesn't influence much on the price on this particular car due to its condition & mileage, but in that price range I'd expect it fully loaded.

    That just shows how subjective colour is. I would never buy a green car like this, even if it was super cheap. Stationary heating ( standheizung) was an expensive option I once took on a T wagen I bought in Germany. Unless you live in climates where it is below zero for 6 months of the year, it is a waste of money.

    Arnt, you have a good eye! The flip-top armrest was not standard equipement outside of USA, AFAIK. In USA, it was standard for 1993-up model years. I'm guessing the IRCL was either not standard either, or was made standard later in facelift production? The radio & lack of fader in the center console do confirm it's a facelift model, ditto for the "small" ETA connector near the CAN box.

    I really wish European sellers would post the damn VIN. They act like it's as sensitive as a US resident's Social Security number. Sheesh.

    My car is a euro car and was manufactured in 2nd half of '93 and ordered as a '94 model year (it is a facelift model) and one of the options on it is option code 249 (listed in french, since it was a Swiss car) is "249 retroviseur interieur automatique" and if I translate that literally I think it is "automatic interior mirror", which I think meant auto dimming mirror.
    Is the distinction you are making on this car that it has an interior dimming mirror that is from an earlier model?
    If so what is the functional difference? (I have no idea)

    When I worked at car dealership the cars that were green were the hardest to sell. I swear even yellow cars were easier to sell

    The early type has a switch below the mirror glass for on/off and min & max sensitivity adjustment. This mirror carries the same stalk as the manual mirror, while the later autodim.mirror has a shorter stalk. The later type interfere a bit with the small sun visor above the mirror, while the early type and manual mirrors clear the visor when it's down. IIRC the early type are yellowing a bit in the glass due to ageing. I think the early type was phased out already when this option was introduced for 124 facelift model late '93. Maybe Rik (2phast) would chime in here if I'm wrong on something. For some reason doesn't my Samsung mob. load pics on the forum, but I think this thread contains good info about autodim.mirrors;
    https://www.500eboard.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5032

    A side note;
    Strange enough, if you search up the E500 Limited brochure you'll see the early type autodim.mirror put in that car. My guess is that the brochure was prepared early 1993 to be ready prior to the launch of the Limited.

    Please help me out Gents. What is “stationary heating” and how can you tell this car has it?

    I’m surprised how much better this color looks over a Black interior. I suppose the price is high on purpose. Sure, it’s not set at the middle of the Bell Curve, but it’s probably yet still on the curve, a standard deviation or so away. But then again, so is the quality of the car (or at least it’s thought to be).

    It's a heating unit that runs on the fuel in the tank (gas or diesel, depending on the model) and circulates hot coolant through the engine & heater core, and runs the HVAC fan to heat the passenger compartment. There's a timer in the console visible ahead of the shifter, that's how you identify it. In cold climates, this means you can leave for work at 7am in a toasty warm car, and also when leaving the office at 5pm. Useless in warm climates of course, but for people who live in areas that get sub-zero temperatures, this would be awesome.

    GSXR's response will suffice, thanks. I was wondering what that stuff was in the center console. In SoFL, anything without A/C on in traffic is a Bikram experience.

    It makes me wonder, though, whether that was the precursor to the "Rest" function, found in later models (W220), when it's cold outside. Mine doesn't see cold, which is why I have to wonder. And it certainly doesn't work for hours, that's for sure. But it's better than nothing.

    Cheers,

    No mentioning about 58 cars with 0000 colour code and absolutely same options etc... Still a lot to do.
    The color data in the Wiki was taken directly from the EPC, which is really the ONLY source of factory data that exists on these cars. I also have full details and codes on all US and Worldwide .036 models made.

    The problem is that the EPC is notorious about being inaccurate on cladding and paint nomenclature (the color codes are generally accurate), and interior materials/colors. The new Pee-Pee system seems to be more accurate. So, an update can be done with the VIN numbers of cars that have inaccurate paint code information within Pee-Pee, to see if the information has been corrected/updated, or is still non-existent in the MB system.

    But, that information is accurate, and I do not know how it can be improved upon, unless the cars with the missing or incorrect color data are actually OBSERVED by a human being, and their colors verified.

    What is your person doing differently, than looking at the EPC/Pee-Pee data? That is the fount of all knowledge, or at least the closest thing to it.

    Cheers,
    Gerry

    Who, how, where and with what- i don´t care. Result is interesting. And the current result is, as i said, 58 "unidentified" cars with 0000 colour(s), on 500eboard no mentioning about Rubinrot etc.
    So, i´m still looking for this information.Who will bring it to me and when- not important.

    Spruce Green, Malachite or Ruby Red, who cares, that is an exceptional car. If only it had beige trim ...

    The new Pee-Pee system / Pee-Pee data?

    Cheers,

    Pee-Pee? Seriously? Who comes up with these names?

    That term is best left for “Potty Training” >>> Mommy I have to “Pee-Pee”

    The new EPC is has a new name, XENTRY Portal Parts Information System, XPPIS, semi-affectionately referred to as XPISS. Details here. My local dealer parts guys are unimpressed with it; they say it has more layers in the navigation / GUI, and takes more clicks to get to the parts compared to the old EPC.

    Um, that would be Gerry the Honch.

    About the datacard / color info, I am 99.999% certain it has the 100% identical option code numbers compared to the EPC. The descriptions of said codes may be improved, but the codes themselves remain unchanged. Nobody at MB is going to go back to locate and "fix" datacards from 3 decades ago.

    Ha! I don’t want to insult Gerry, BUT at least let’s be adults about it. How about “Piss-Piss” or “Pissy”

    As much as I know about the EPC or XPISS , I’m done here!

    LOL

    I'm calling it Pee-Pee, no matter what anyone says. The other "XPI$&" word is swearing and improper for a family forum such as this one.
