The Mercedes 500 E was developed by Porsche who were also given the job of assembling the car in Zuffenhausen, as Mercedes did not have the capacity available in Stuttgart. The bodies were painted in Sindelfingen, the engines, gearboxes and suspensions were built in Untertürkheim and the whole was assembled at Porsche in Zuffenhausen, where Porsche had spare capacity at the time.
Designed as a performance version of the E-class, it was fitted with the V8 from the 500SL and given 326 hp and a limited top speed of 250 km/h. Its performance was breath-taking: 0 to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds. The face lifted E500´s final edition was produced at 500 units and called "limited" Its interior differed from the previous model. It included standard Onyx coloured wood and optional red, green or grey coloured leather for the centre part of the seats.
This particular car was delivered new to Leipzig in December 1994, to a dealer who then sold it in Japan to a meticulous owner who looked after it very well, according to the car´s service book.
It was then re-imported in 2016 in the UK where it remained until spring 2017 when it returned to its home country, Germany.
This represents a rare opportunity to acquire the very last most developed of the ultimate Mercedes/Porsche metisse.
