Looks great! Make sure you adjust them properly... you'll need to aim them against a wall from ~20 feet away and get both beams correct. Procedure is in the FSM (maintenance manual portion), basically the low beams should be about 2-3 inches below centerline (with car up against the wall), high beams should be basically on center. That will get you in the ballpark anyway.

I noticed this evening that my low beams work great on both sides but when I turn on the brights the driver light is totally out but the passenger side works perfectly.

Check the fuses. MB fuses each beam/side separately.

The smaller bulb toward the inside is burnt out. I am not sure if the bulb comes out off this assembly or does it come with wire attached? What is the part number and can these be purchased at Autozone? I'm guessing the bulbs in this table apply to the euros? https://www.500eboard.com/forums/show...ght=euro+bulbs

OH, you meant the inner bulb - I thought you were referring to the outer. Yes, the inners are H3, the wire is part of the assembly.

The Wiki on the bulbs is accurate, although slightly confusing on "High-Lo Beam Headlamp". All Euros (non-US) use H4 bulbs, aka HB2, or possibly 9003. However H4 is the more common term.

Yep, the H4 and H3 are both commonly available at your favorite McParts / FLAPS.

If you're not in a hurry, CandlePower is a good place to get your bulbs. More info on that here:

Two things, actually three things. First thing: I replaced the H3 and it still did not fix the problem, then I noticed the six pin had some corrosion in the sockets. Second thing: I cleaned the connectors and all the lights work. Third thing: The Sylvania 9004's have a different style three pin connector and they have an outer plastic shell so they will not plug in.

Euro "High-Lo Beam Headlamp" takes H4 bulb.

Yeah, I should have looked at the socket before heading off to the store.

Can these Hella 500E specific lenses still be bought?

OLD THREAD REVIVAL IN 3.. 2..

Hey Dave, I'm getting ready to remove the blank filler panels on my euro headlights and I will be putting on a set of wipers and wiper fillers. I like the clean look without the wipers but I've been undecided if I wanted the wipers ever since the day I bought the car. Well, I got the itch and finally pulled the trigger on some nice-condition used wipers, filler panels, and motors from a 95 E320. My question is, will all these parts fit directly on my car since I have the new euro hellas? Do you know if there's any difference between the 86-93 euro trim panels and the euro & usa 94-95 panels? They look the same to me. Only thing I can think of is maybe a slight difference in the length of the face and/or the angle where it meets the grille? I'm just curious if the E320 panels will bolt right on and line up with the grille correctly or if I need to source a set of euro trim panels. Thanks

Hey Mike. Your answer is here https://www.500eboard.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5594. There is a slight difference between 86-93 and 94-95 trim panels.

Any trim panel (no matter what car it was for) will physically bolt up to the car.

What it all depends on is what type of wiper/motor that you have (early Euro, early US, late US+late Euro, or none/wiper delete). Or what type of wiper you WANT ...or if you want to delete them entirely.

If you want to use Euro wipers and motors, then you need to have the proper Euro headlights. Euro wipers (early or late) WILL NOT work on early US headlights (with the plastic headlight doors). Euro wipers (early or late) WILL work on facelift US headlights, although Euro E500E lights are always preferred.

As Miziev mentioned above, there is a very slight difference. Photo attached.

However, the 94-95 panels (identical between USA and Euro) will bolt up perfectly with 86-93 Euro lights/wipers. Totally depends if you think the slight visual difference is worth sourcing the "correct" panels or not.

    Re: WTB-Hella Headlights for a 500E

Thanks for the info guys. Looks like I will have to source some 92-93 euro trim panels. That slight difference near the grille would probably bother me too much. Anyone have a photo of a 92-93 500e with the facelift panels installed by any chance? Will the facelift wipers and motors bolt right up properly? What's the difference in the facelift wipers and euro wipers?

Facelift USA wipers / motors are identical to all years of "Euro" wipers.

Gotta be fast on these....not HELLA but BOSCH .036 specific. They appear to be the 'correct' ones and in nice shape.

Thanks Dave. I was gonna mention to you yesterday that I could only identify one part number for wiper motors, which means I'll probably re-use mine and just buy new arms and lenses.

I saw those on eBay. Makes me glad I have assemblies already (credit God and JC220). I think my headlight project will come in cheaper than $1000. We'll see. This car has a way of upending my forward looking cost estimates.

I'd try to locate a used set from a facelift USA 124.

I few dollars cheaper on mbpartspros, but if you aren't local you'll have to pay shipping. Although, I was told they might forgo for first order.
