Hey Gerry, I think I found URO's supplier. You want cheap parts? I got your cheap parts right over here!

    Gerry,

I think I may have stumbled upon the supplier of parts for URO. OMG! Look at the prices! (URO parts are WAY too pricey!)

    Sample prices:
    M119 Water pumps - $20-$25 http://www.miparts.com/detail/water-pump_4801 or http://www.miparts.com/detail/water-pump_4800
    M119 Belt tensioner - $20 http://www.miparts.com/detail/belt-tensioner_12221
    124 Radiators - $55-$60 http://www.miparts.com/vehicles/merc...ass_743?page=6
    124 Front suspension control arms - $35 http://www.miparts.com/detail/track-control-arm_22465
Front shocks - $35 (or $45 for the Bilstein colored yellow ones)
    Strut mounts - $13 http://www.miparts.com/detail/shock-...-mounting_3561
    Fuel pumps - $10-$14
    Engine mounts - $15
    Thermostats - $4
    Brake padss = $7-$8

Let's give this supplier information to all the URO fanboys in the other forums. They can have parts for even less than URO prices. We need to encourage them to rebuild their entire front end and brake systems with everything they can possibly buy from that site. That should take them out of the gene pool real fast! (I just hope they don't kill any innocent third parties in the process.)

On second thought, let's invite them to an open track day. That would be so much fun to watch. Ball joints and tie rod ends snapping, control arms folding, shocks puking oil, brake lines popping, brake pads crumbling into chunks of kitty litter.
    Current rolling stock:
    1992 500E 211,000+, 1993 500E 171,000+, 1995 E300D 402,000+, 1984 300D 241,000+, 1975 VW Scirocco with stroked, slightly de-tuned Formula Super-Vee engine

This is some awesome trolling material !! Thanks. I think I might do just that - there is a contingent on PeachParts who thinks that URO parts are of 'just fine' quality and that their failure is the fault of the part installer, not the part maker.

    Go figure.

Gerry, That's *specifically* why I wanted you to have first crack at this info. It affords the opportunity to continue your Jihad AND antagonize the mouth-breathing URO fans by showing them that they paid too much - a "two-fer".

Dave: I smell a "group buy" opportunity. Perhaps those minimum purchase numbers correlate with the anticipated life of the part when referenced against a high quality part? You'll need 10 china-crap radiators to last as long as one Behr? 5 water pumps to last as long as 1 OEM, etc., etc.?

I stumbled across that site when I googled a MBZ shock absorber number for the w210 I just bought. (I know, I know, a 210 - UGH! I'm rolling the dice.) I especially like the yellow colored shocks - factory ready for a counterfeit Bilstein sticker. http://www.miparts.com/detail/shock-...6#.Ut1MyLTTlaQ

I used to just shake my head in regards to this garbage, but now I realize that it could actually have a material impact on two fronts. One being safety due to possible counterfeiting (versus *choosing* cheap parts), the other being that as the market is flooded with this junk, it may (eventually) interfere with the ability to get true/actual OEM manufacturer parts. (Due to not only counterfeiting, but also the economic pressures of OEM's trying to piss into a hurricane of cheap parts from China.)

Tangential note: Many years ago, I heard about a MBZ parts guy that bought up a BUNCH of NOS 300SL parts at discounted prices as the dealerships and MBZ phased them out of inventory. That was his retirement plan, and he made a small fortune selling it off during the 80's & 90's. Talk about prescience. Seems like those opportunities could very well exist now for the 'right' parts...
