Well a day setback as the paint supply provided the lightest shade of the color, rather than the darker. Here is the test spray with my gas access door showing thru the hole.. So here are the three shades of ppg on their card New quart in darkest shade today so we hope Friday she gets 2 coats of color and clear Saturday with wet sand and polish/seal Sunday or Monday.

The pedal covers for e brake and brake are, minor surgery to the accelerator. If you have a dremel, it is about 3 minutes to shape existing pedal at top to ensure taught fit slk cover. If you never removed accelerator pedal before, it's rather simple. I suggest you see our friend's page at 2phast.com, 500e page and then interior. He did a nice write up on it with pictures.

Ok this is the best I can do, given the darkness. I will hopefully get some nice shots in the sun, but it looks fantastic to me. until now, both my MB were without the hood star, nice to have it.

Damn !!!! What a beautifil car anf color ! Looks mint ! I am glad you brought it back to proper factory condition !

These polished wheels are stunning ! Jealous !

P.S. The hood star is one of the most important feature to me ! I bought E W212 instead of CLS C218 because CLS does not have a hood star .

Always enjoy hood star while driving

    Re: OWNER - nocfn

Thanks for the kinds words all, it is nice to be done with it. I did find myself looking at the star (gun sight) while driving since it is new to me. The biggest help for me is parking spatially, since I now have a reference point that is unmistakable so that I don't tear up that bumper. The C126 hood goes for miles it seems (exaggeration emphasis intended) but I am accustomed to most popular cars next to me for safe line up, but must admit I prefer to back into a spot when ever possible.

    looks very good Mr.
Though it may seem that the hood has to come down abit up front..as there is too much clearance to the headlights?

i have to adjust my hood too,,and ive just done the boot lid.as it was not perfect after the respray on my car.

looks good anyways your car now.good to have the star on the hood

yes she is high in back and a bit up front and both fender supports near the front radiator support need to come inward a few MM. This car had the hood adjusted to fit modified standard 124 fenders when purchased. Non safety item, I will get to it as soon as possible.

I did order the back window frame, shameful I thought I could pull it off but its just ghetto to have the bronze shining in the sun next to the nice black rain deflectors. Next week I will swap those in.

    Re: OWNER - nocfn

well no, I didnt remove the assembly, just the two covers.fully extended and stopped wiper pointing at upper left corner, turned off key. tilted mechanism up until it clicked, raising it off glass. removed arm cover, raised hood to 90 degrees, then popped off turtle shell, pushed up shaft and rotated over. Wiped shaft clean and removed old grease under turtle shell. slathered on some white lithium paste to the shaft, some atf in a syringe to the visible bushings at the pivot points. What should be done, and I will do it in the spring is remove enitire assembly, clean the gear mechanism and re-lube, along with the rest of the underside pivot points. This was my first for this wiper, but it has received the service in the past, or it was a new assembly as the grease was plentiful and only slightly brown and hard about 5%. If it was 23 years old I suspect it would be hard like window regulator grease or non-existent.

FYI - you can only pop off the cover to access the gearing/mechanism on 1994-up (facelift) models with the plastic cover, which is also replaceable.

Earlier models (through 1993, and also some very early 1994/facelift production) have a painted metal cover which cannot be easily removed.

With a 5/94 build it was a snap! But IIRC, the inner teeth lube requires removal correct?

Might there be a "how to" somewhere for pre facelift?

Couldn't be a better day for a drive from Houston to Dallas. Even got a honk of approval and a thumbs up from a rather nice bimmer on my way to Southlake!

Grass is as green as my car from March to November. There are some brilliant sights to see in the USA, coast to coast and boarder to boarder. Some places are identical to others while a unique flare in architectures will make you feel like you are in old pre-war Europe and a block away in the French countryside, to quaint Bavarian villages. Traveling abroad is really fun, but so much to experience in the states, I have spent time IIRC in 46 of the 50 states.

4 hour drive was effortless! Clear blue skies there, dark coming back but no traffic. Managed to get a steady 3200 RPM @80 MPH and about 350 on a tank of gas. Acceleration from 80-120 was like butter and my wife said, do we have to drive 80? As I backed it off from 110 and said, no I can slow it down. Great to stretch the legs and test out the WOT LH Module. Temp stayed at 82 and no oil consumption or tranny fluid either. Very pleased.

    Louie,

I had my head in the sand a couple of weeks ago in the Caribbean actually w/o any Wi-Fi.
Anyway I missed your latest pics and just wanted to acknowledge your efforts.

Your spruced up Spruce Green paint looks absolutely stunning and the EVOs really set it off.

All of your hard work has paid off. You have taken an OK E500 and turned it into a real beauty.

Now get out there and enjoy!!

    Take Care
    Terry

I love my Michelin Super Sports. I now have about 15K miles on them and they still look and perform like new. It was like night and day from my original "Pilots" in smooth ride, grip and acoustics in the car. No better tires.

Sounds like your pretty complete. BUT there is always just a little more that you will have to do.

I think he has the record for the most posts in the shortest amount of time. Pretty soon he'll surpass GSXR as the highest post total on the site.

Did you get the V8 shifter new? Do you have a part number.

Looks great! Heated seat switches are the wrong way around I think?

I bought it new aftermarket. Formymercedes.com. Quality piece, very nice leather on a threaded 129 shaft.

Dunno in switches, they work and I found them like they are in the picture.

I haven't asked permission to post....

But I did replace the puddle lights, trunk and license plate lamps with cool white, and brake lights with red LED. (reds look very nice but I should have bought the ones with the resistors as to not trip the bulb out indicator)

Had discovered an awful rattle inside my car that I had noticed only due to the stereo being off. Finally isolating the back left door. Removed door card, first person to remove the plastic membrane and voila, a window scrape hold clip and an end of a male cladding clip from the PO left to dance freely inside the door. Lets all say silence, repeat after me.... si-lence! Took a chance to lube handle, hinges regulator and window slide and of course the inspection of the check strap. Like most rear doors of little use, things were pretty good and the lube in good shape.
