Replaced this 22 year old brake light switch today. Also cleaned out years of debris under the carpet and noise reduction. .

I might add that lubrication of the pedal pivot points, and some 303 wiped liberally on the bellows took care of the brake pedal noise. 120,305

Did some PM today and changed out my strut mounts and the related bits. All had 93 date code and some evidence of wear and or cracking. Also installed Euro style lock pulls (like the C126). Grabbed some new as the used ones I had from the yard looked ratty.

I think around 100k mi is max on these. Obviously YMMV .
My first 300d had 195k when bought. Bump stops were worn little more than the ones pictured above. My second 300d had 240k mi when bought... bump stops were non-existant.

Swapped in a new oil pressure sending unit (and new copper washer) in the C126. No more bouncing from 1 bar to 3 bars at idle

Original MB equipment used to replace the factory original, lasted 25 years and 168k. Also swapped in my summer steering wheel.

Finally installed my remote keyless entry system on the E500. It is the ahkay system but with the help of gsxr, got it right. Oddly enough one cut required for the 94-95 model years. The picture below shows what should be cut for the system on late car (94-95 w124).

I am holding on to the lower plug with one green wire, cut that and apply white to the plug side, the black/orange to the harness side and be done. As a bonus, my frequency for the c126 Fob already matched the receiver so one remote for two cars, suits me just fine.

Installed freshly painted valences that were without the holes for the wipers. Also installed stock grill, and my spare set of H4's with refurbished inserts painted to match the body.

Changed out my expansion tank, no pictures they are all white. Didn't get the chance to swap in the new braided hose, but will so this week. Changed out float, O ring and cleaned out the wire connections, dielectric grease and new plastic connectors. Added the new cap I forgot to list just today.

Changed original oil pressure sender. Evaluated the oil level sender and see the trail of leaky O ring so that will get replaced soon. I have the lower harness in my inventory and must say this is the next urgency list! Also installed the backglass window frame.

    Louie,

I've changed that oil pressure level sending unit about 4 years ago. That's a PITA job. I hope you have little hands "like Trump" because removing the circlip on the outside of the block is tough. No room at all to work. The O-rings were toast. I just put new O-rings on my old unit to do over I would install a new unit just for GP. Still not leaking.

    Good Luck w/ that job!!

I read the GVZ How To on that and saw the circlip plainly.... And the oil path due to failure of the rings. I will replace the unit. As for the hands, same size as a Wide Receiver at the combine......

Replaced lower harness, remove 3 pole CAN plug from harness, then slide the fuel rail bracket off harness. Using a long rope and taping off old harness, rope attaches to make quick work of the install top side with no removal of tranny dipstick. 120,305

Brilliant solution! Why didn't I think of that? Make sure to update the other DIY harness threads with that info. Oh, and pics or it didn't happen... LOL....

Remembered after about 2 hours on the road how fun it is to drive this car! Also was reminded that its 82F here in South Texas, and needed the AC. Instantly recalled the sampler fan I purchased but not yet installed. Problem now solved, no more whining after extended use of the AC, swapped out the fan motor at 120,370

Think he meant that it's attached on the back side of the CAN box. But yes, you are correct, there is no connection to the CAN bus.

So onto the C126. I finally got around to purchasing a door seal for the passenger door. Mine was OEM from 91, an was dry and torn by PO. Upon removal, noticed the adhesive had failed, allowing water to sit behind the rubber in the door channel. So did a little surface rust mitigation and that dried over night. C126 Door rubber is about as pricey as a 94 E500 LCA, so we dry fit, use 3M quality adhesives and take one's time. I also took the time to remove door card, re-spray the door pull and card with 268 grey from Duplicolor vinyl and plastic paint and just waiting for that to cure. Lubed the regulator, check strap and the locks, cleaned out debris from the bottom of the door. Love the vault sound of the heavy C126 door. Pics when its all done.

Noticed my muffler on the E500 seemed to move at idle more than it should. Replaced the hangers, removed originals that were rather elastic.

Did a few jobs on the E500.

Installed new hydraulic bottle, braided hose and new fluid to flush out the old.

Also removed cluster and cleaned outer case, and used SEM Landau Black for the interior to bring the cluster from faded brown to match the dash more closely. I experimented on a spare case and it was a spot on match. Details.....

Also had to revisit the passenger airbag from a few weeks ago, it wasn't seated properly. Some projects in the hopper, all parts are present but a new one presented....fan squawking like a dying oppossum! Behr-Hella here Wednesday so that's next! 120,710

Coincidental. Now if you replace the fan motor with a writeup tonight, I expect the same treatment when I post that I have done the same thing. (we have the same cars...)

Easy there, Tiger ... the [Banzworld] arm of Chaldahar and ghost of Cascade have a long reach......

I did the fan motor in the days before I was doing dedicated HOW-TOs, but per the links I provided it's pretty well documented.

Installed new Behr/Hella climate fan. Removed my original Bosch, and the shaft showed corrosion and would hardly spin. It all works, quieter than the paisley compound! Greased up the wiper assembly, let atf wick into the pivot points overnight - each side. Painted the turtle shell to bring it back to newness.

    Pics or it didn't happen.

EDIT: I see photos were added - thanks! The rusted shaft ends are kinda normal. I believe the motor is Bosch but the assembly is Behr as OEM (sold by Behr/Hella in aftermarket). The foam on your main air flap is disintegrated (also normal, unfortunately). The main air flap closes during recirculation function to block outside air from entering the cabin.

I did not change the regulator. It wasn't a terrible job to do so not opposed to go back in there. I think it may have been changed when they did the expansion valve. The wiring was very clean, no corrosion on the contacts and the assembly appeared new, like it wasn't sitting in the car for 20 years. The foam under the top cover was showing some witness marks of removal, I had to apply some adhesive to glue it down.

I am hot your heels with almost everything you are doing to your car. Guess what? My HVAC blower is now dead too and I have the SLS reservoir parts on my kitchen table at home. I get scared to read more of Jerry's how to's as it just adds to my list of things to get done on my car.

The 94-95 blower motor assembly is ~$275 for OEM Behr, plus new dust filters (OEM is MicronAir; Mann makes decent ones also) unless your dust filters are recent.

    https://importecautoparts.com/parts/...20%2006%2008/3

While it's a good idea to replace the speed controller (aka porcupine, due to the appearance of the early type) it's not strictly required. But, if you don't want to open up everything twice, you could replace it proactively. Aftermarket KAE is ~$150, OE/dealer is $300+ from Naperville.

If you replace all that stuff, yup, Louis is right... ±$500 total. Fun job, plan on 2-3 hours as DIY if you've never done it before.

Removed front door card, drivers side to replace the inserts with MBOE black inserts from a donor card (thanks Captruff). As a "while you are in there" I cleaned out junk and weep holes at door bottom, greased the regulator sliders after cleaning regulator, and also high pressure molly to the teeth and gear as they were dry. Lubed the check strap as well. PO did a good job replicating the door card but I could tell the difference so I changed it. Will be doing all 4 as I go throughout the next few months.

Note I had to order a new plate from Naperville 1247201111 and the color code changed from 8F33 when I bought the right side 6 months ago to 8320.

So the 94 variant of mushroom/parchment/cream beige is now 8320 from 8F33 (this is for the leather or pleather stuff not plastic or fabric)

Side note, the PO installed JL audio speakers in the doors, they sound good and they used the factory box but bypassed the factory amp on board.

8F33 is one of several 4-digit codes for Parchment (exact code varies depending if the part is leather, Tex, plastic, or metal). This would be correct for your E500 with xx5 interior color code.

8320 is completely different and wrong; this is a code for Palomino (86-93 USA years, interior code xx4, which was never offered on the E500E). MB sent you the right part in the wrong color expecting you to dye/paint it to match. They'll do this (send you the right part in wrong color) until they run out of ALL colors, and then the part will be permanent NLA.

Spent the day removing rear springs, struts on the c126. Ended up waiting 2 hours for the Eibachs to be delivered. Installed them and also new Rams because I was there.(perfect spares of 10 years removed). So will remove front HR's Sunday and add hydraulic fluid and balance it out. If leak free, button it up and go for a drive.

Some pics comparing stock rear, the spring I was running and the HR I replaced. . This next pic is the Eibachs next to the HR. Eibachs are a bit softer.

    . 169,719

Just a note to anyone as a confirmation of expense: C126 drove like a dream S Klasse on a freeway drive to the Texas Gulf coast yesterday. If you are deliberating new strut expense on the W126 or W124, go ahead and spend the money, it will restore the butt dyno as well as feel great, again.

Finalized the C126 with the exchange of the springs up front, Eibachs in and HR out. Sure is nice to have all 4 springs the same rate and manufacturer. Had occasion to inspect the rotors and brake pads. Pads are 2 years old but the lip on the rotors is rather pronounced. So I ordered new MB rotors and will use the Akebono pads from my stash since I am "in there" so to speak.

Today I squared off my tires with Conti 235/45/17 on the C126, along with installing new MB front rotors with New Akebono pads. Since Honch helped me replace the bearings less than a year ago, I opted to reuse them. I only used a skosh of the MB green paste. Stops great, no issues and thanks for the HOW-TO as my guide. (looking forward to not removing 5 extra bolts to get the hubs off when I do the W124.
