I am beginning to believe that M-B deliberately made this rust issue on all their cars to force owners to buy new ones!
Its impossible that these cars keep rusting like this. I see cheap crappy cars with no rust.. while even maintained M-Bs from 2008 are rusting out. Aluminum bodied C215 are rusting too !!

    Christian, Thanks..
We took the fuel filler door to the paint shop to match on their machine. The paint supplied was a 97% match which im told as good as it gets. Yet on the car its totally different. I think the issue is certainly clear coat. So only way is to around the whole car. And i hope bumpers and roof wont look off.

Hi Jay - that's a shame on the paint match but it looks like all will turn out well when done

For the fender paint did they flat back the bonnet + adjoining door to blend the paint? Paint matching has many variables - paint shops never can do a 100% match every time IMO because of so many factors that are perhaps beyond the scope of this thread....

Best practice is of course to have an actual existing panel analysed by the paint supplier along with the factory colour code. Then blend the base coat halfway across the adjoining panels followed by re-clear coating all panels affected.

We were hoping not to have to blend into the bonnet. We were always planning on blending into the doors, hence you can see they prepped the doors.
Now they will have to go around the whole car..

All done... Temporarily on AMG wheels as the brabus wheels need some touch ups..

Once the car came back I sealed the reverse of the wings in Dinitrol 4941 Wax.

    Wow!

It looks like a brand new paint job. Did you end up painting everything or just blending together? Either way your paint guy does great work.

    Take Care Jay

    Hi Terry,

The whole car in the end minus the bumpers and cladding... They look fine.

So as usual, never simple, but worth it in the end.
