    Re: OWNER - lowman (Norge)

hellooo there people here is A little update of my latest doings on my 500e
To feed my OCD needs,i have started doing some minor improvements to the front end of the car.And OCD it is indeed..as when you start to clean areas that is not really visible..then ...you know...its kinda nerdy
I have taken out the headlights,,cleaning the air intake boxes, changing the resistor behind the left headlight ,as i had one "better" looking one laying around.and i got to clean the wire connections to it..and stuff.

Here are some pics of the done dutiesEnjoy

    Changing the resistor

Took out the headlights and turn signal lamps.
Quite dirty behind there, and not up to my standards

Tried to do a comparsion "shoot"...and i see that i did not remember the "angles" correctly..but you get the idea

    Before

    After

    Before

    After

    Before

    After

I even did the screws holding the headlight

A little project im working on

nd finally a little Moooood picture of the cars in the garage
My Focus Rs you may reckognize

The Jaguar is a 1976 xj12 that im working on

The corvette is a 1981 model

    Thanx for looking

    Re: OWNER - lowman (Norge)

    hellooooo there
I did make a video about this "upgrade." but wasnt happy with the content..so ill post some pictures of it for now.

Ive been doing this " standard upgrade/modification" that ive seen on quite alot of 500e"s

For my part..its only about the looks..and not the "cooling " aspect..because i do have doubts that it actually does anything at all to the air intake mass or temperature"..
Because if you really study the rear of the headlight..and the intake box ..it really does not make that much difference if you have these "extra" intakes or not,but maybe im wrong.
But like i said..i have only done this because i wanted an extra set of these "covers/grills" to make the car stand out abit more, and adding a personal touch to the car

    So here we go
It all started with new "non" original panels, which is made by a brand of body panels..called Klokkerholm
I taped it up,,drew a scetch on where to cut,and went from there

Cutting work and alot of manual grinding with the metal file

Put some primer on after abit of sanding and smoothening out the edges where i cut

Painted the backside first..as only two coats of paint, and one two coats of clear go on the back

I do not have pics of the cutting of the mesh...but here they are painted up.I cant remember how many coats of paint and clear on the front..but i think it was at least three coats of paint..and even three/four coats of clear.
I was abit undecided on IF i wanted to paint the mesh....as i wanted the mesh to be abit more MATT finish to make it stand out abit more..but i skipped that idea..and painted the whole thing..as i didnt have the patience to mask up the mesh when painting the whole "assembly"

    here it is

And here they are mounted on the car.Pretty happy with the result...even though they are not perfect..but they do well..and i still have the originals to put back on if i decide to take these off.

    Hope you liked it .
    Cheers

    hey there people
    First proper car meeting/Show...is done
And it was a blast..even though the weather was abit cold..and friggin windy ,but im a viking so i kept it up
Got some pics..but as usual..not as many as i would like it to be..as i was to busy talkin to friends, and looking at cars..and then time just flies.

But i hope you like the pics i got.I got to stay on the same stand as the Mercedes Enthusiast club..i am a member..but not a Paying member.but yeah..thats how it is.

    Here is the pics
    On the way there

    In good company

The new Ford Focus Rs...as i am a Ford fan..but this Focus Rs will never get under my skin..even though its an awesome driving machine..i just do not find it cool that they made it into a 5 door hatch..instead of a 3 door hatch...which is how an RS should be..exept for the Sierra Sapphire Cosworth..which is a sedan..and one of THE super sedans of the 80"s.

An AWESOME condition BMW 850 CSI....superb show condition,,painted underneath plus plus

Awesome Opel Lotus Omega and Opel Omega Evo 500

Lovely c126 and 212..and a cool rat look Beetle

One of my all time dream cars!! A local car....and owner is a Ford mechanic/chief dude.he had this car for i think 15-20 years.

    My sign up "certificate"

Two last pics..from after show cruise..down town...visiting the harbour, and a nice old boat..named "Rogaland" which is the same name as the name the"county"i live in..Rogaland"

Hope you liked the pics and thank you for looking

    Weeeeellll.shipohoiandhellootherepeople

This weekend i have been to a Mercedes meeting, and actually this was the longest driven distance yet, after both fixing the "stalling issue i had earlier..and after the underside restoration,so driving 500-600 km was quite nervewrecking. But the car made it very well..with no issues at all.so im pretty happy So now i trust my car finally

Been taking alot of photos from the meeting, and there was alot of nice Mercedes cars..even though there was not THAT many..but still an awesome day
After the meeting..we went for this awesome cruising, and we visited some really beautifull places around the southern part of Norway.
I have also made 3 youtube videos, that im uploading as we speak.Alot of babbling as usual...but this time..it was really just to show you guys the scenery and what actually went down.

I start of with the pics.
And i do not explain every picture..as they do talk for them selves.

    Lovely E63 Amg

Cool 190e Evo1 that i actually am on the verge of buying

    Lovely w126

    PERFECTLY restored 190 SL

    R129 and such.Just love the R129"s

Another perfect car..W140 S600,one of the last built,And loaaaaaded with every possible option.

    Love the w123"s

    Nice c124

    Awesome S Class

    R230 SL55 Amg

And finally some Cruising pics..obiously alot of my car in the shots..but hey..thats just how it is when taking Scenery pics from inside of the car
    And got some outside shotsaswell...

    Can you spot the 190SL

Arriving at this "special" road, that they opened just for this special occasion.Beautifull scenery

And finally a couple of moood pics of my car ,from where we stopped for a chat and a look at the nice view

    Hope you liked the pics.
Will be posting the three "cruising babbling " videos soon

    thanx for looking

Did people know anything about the E500? When I go to events at the local MB club there are very few, if any, people that know what it is.

    hey there
Well...yeah some of the guys do know what it is...i did not talk to tooo many people about my car..but the ones i did talk with..they knew that it was a E500 ..or 500e..and we were just talking along and yeah.
But most of the "older" guys ,i guess do not know what it really is,when they look in the engine bay and see a big v8 engine and a big plastic cover instead of an old diesel engine or the good ol m102

but they do comment on the "condition" of the car though, and they do notice all the details around the car,,included the hours that went into the car .so thats cool

What say guys ?!? Should we promote the Lowman upward in the 500Eboard hierarchy a level, based on his vehicle restoration success and anal-ness?

    hellooo there
I just wanted to post this pic of the 500e, because today..it is Norways Constitutional day...or "National Day" 17th of May.

So...a pic with the Norwegian flag and the 500e...is mandatory today
Happy birthday,Norway in Norwegian ...that is "gratulerer med dagen, Norge "

heh ..well...i have actually thought about getting some pedals like that..but abit unsure on if i like em or not..
Are you serious about it..or are you pulling my leg?hehe

i kinda like em..but really deep inside there somewhere..i dont think they "fit" the car..looks to "new" in a way...but the look of the pedals themselves is very nice..so im a bit drawn in both directions

Yes I have them in 2 of my w124's, they are genuine MB pedals. They spruce up the otherwise boring pedals!

Even non petrol heads spot the pedals & comment on them! By this stage the original pedals have wear on them anyway and these MB stainless ones are surprisingly inexpensive too

    hey man

thanx..and i agree with you...ive always been a sucker for the orange blinkers..on many types of cars..i even stuck orange blinkers on my Ford Focus Rs..as i think it pops real good..and it just freshens up the look quite abit .

I did get NEW white ones too..in addition to the light tinted ones i already got
Now i just need to get the US spec ones.

I mean it. Your car keeps improving in a good way; sans all the AMG swag, for instance. Your efforts in restoring your car shows you love it.

I half-suspect it's something in the Norway air. I'm on a number of other forums and some of my favorite build threads come from enthusiasts who live in Norway. Builds such as guys turbo charging a V12 and shoe-horning it into an 80's bmw 3 series. But I digress...

thank you so much.and i tend to keep it up

yeah there is alot of nice "car work" going on here in Norway...no doubt about it..even though there is alot of that super builds..that tends to be just for track use..and the big car event here in Norway called "Gatebil" which stands for " Roadlegal Cars" ...directly translated...that show has taken an ugly turn in many ways...started back in early 2000"s...and it was a proper car show by and for enthusiasts...who had a big passion for their cars...but this show has grown to massive proportions..and today it is a proper "Festival" containing mainly drift super cars and late night parties...and its almost impossible NOT beeing afraid of some drunken nuthead fuckin up your car in the late hours..

    so..but enough rant

again ..thank you for looking at my thread.and your kind words

Hi Stefan, here some photos of my steering and airbag for comparison. There is no number except the stamp for 39cm diameter in the steering. When i git it there was a b6 sticker on it. I got it like 10-12 years ago from eBay from a guy who bought them from a overstock from a dealership.i think in the old forum I might have posted the number but that is gone.

    hey mate

    thank you for info
If its that long ago..then i guess its not possible getting another one from the same seller..

but it seems that at least it does not have the same issue as the steering wheel i had.

but thank you for showing the pics
